“American Catholics prefer President Trump to Bergoglio”

LAPRESSE_20180131122939_25583036
Edward Pentin is the Rome correspondent of National Catholic Register. A daily newspaper that generally comes defined as “liberal” and that, in any case, represents an important voice of American Catholicism. In this exclusive interview, Pentin analyzes, from his point of view and that of the Americans, the relationship between American Catholics and Pope Bergoglio.
Your newspaper was particularly attentive to the “Barros case”. How do you think the "management" of this matter was?
"Chaotic. The problem is the Pope's inconsistency in dealing with cases of abuse: on the one hand he has shown himself committed to implementing new structures to fight crime, but on the other hand he favored friends or friends of friends – cardinals, bishops and priests – who covered up abuse or committed abuse themselves. The case of Bishop Barros is just another example of a proven trend.".

Verona – Centro accoglienza senza "Sky" Immigrant revolt breaks out

A group of 20 refugees gathered outside the CAS where they started the protest complete with a placard
Of Simona Dirutigliano
This was still missing and as absurd as it may seem, it's all true. It happened in Trevenzuolo at the Cas di Roncolevà, in the Verona area.
As reported by the Gazzetta di Mantova, yesterday morning a group of 20 refugees gathered outside the CAS where they started the protest complete with a placard – a piece of cardboard – on which the migrants wrote: “We don't want Anastasia” or the coordinator of the cooperative. As if that wasn't enough, the exiles also thought well of tampering with the energy meter so as to block the gate, also blocked with trolleys and a garden swing, and therefore prevent operators from entering.
The intervention of the commander of the Isola della Scala Carabinieri station was necessary, through an interpreter, he persuaded the migrants to calm down by explaining their motivations. Football matches on Sky and food, these are the problems. Islao Petrarca, president of the Versoprobo cooperative, has decided to act reasonably: “We provide what we need to provide; On the contrary, in certain cases, even more. But not the superfluous. We have no intention of satisfying childish requests”. Read More

The anti-fascist march in Macerata? Disgusting

Of Nicola Porro

https://www.nicolaporro.it/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/marcia-antifascista.jpg

D-i-s-g-u-s-t-o-s-i. This is how I define the chants and banners of the anti-fascist demonstration in Macerata. You will understand the reasons better by seeing this short video in which, in bright tones, I'm talking about the choir "from Trieste downwards" (02:00), of the foibe (03:01) and the horror perpetrated by Nigerians. Piacenza, anti-fascist violence: carabiniere falls and is beaten

Shocking images from Piacenza, where a march against CasaPound was planned. A carabiniere was surrounded and beaten by the collectives
Of Claudio Cartaldo
Il policeman he was retreating together with his comrades in the face of the violence of the demonstrators when he stumbled and was surrounded by the antagonists. They kicked him, fists and sticks.
Then using the shield they beat him violently in the face. Only after a few interminable seconds did the soldier manage to escape the lynching. Wound, he was taken to the hospital to treat the various injuries he suffered (watch the shocking video).
Piacenza experienced long minutes of tension. At the parade anti-fascist young people were present, immigrants, social centers and workers. Many of them armed with poles and stones. The occasion was the opening of the first CasaPound branch in the city (“We'll shut it down”, the demonstrators chanted in chorus). The procession started from the station and was headed towards the centre. The commissioner had authorized an established route, but the demonstrators tried to divert and clashes with the police arose. The police were forced to respond to the attacks with tear gas and truncheon fire. “Out with fascists and police”, the collectives shouted. The tension rose even more once we arrived in the centre. And it is here that the policeman ended up a victim of the raid and ended up in hospital due to the numerous injuries he suffered. A journalist was also injured by a stone. Read More

Macerata, left infoiba the memory. Cori shock: "Ma che belle son le foibe"

A weekend in which the marches in Macerata and Piacenza turned into violence and denial of the Foibe tragedy. Here is the demonstration of who the Democrats really are, pluralists and right-thinking people in Italy…(N.d.R.)
Shock chants against the victims of the foibe during the anti-fascist demonstration in Macerata: “But how beautiful are the foibe from Trieste down”
Of Giuseppe De Lorenzo e Marco Vassallo
“But how beautiful they are headquarters from Trieste downwards”. They praise the tragedy of the Italian exiles from Istria and Dalmatia.
And they do it during what should be an anti-fascist march, against violence and discrimination. During the demonstration in Macerata against Luca Traini's crazy hunt for immigrants, the left still falls for it. And to the tune of a Carrà song, the antagonists of “Antifascism campaign” and the social centers of the North East disfigure the memory of those who fled the oppression of Tito's regime. Close to them (without singing) The ANPI flags are flying, of Emergency, of Libera, of Fiom, of the Arc, of Communist Refoundation, of Power to the People and some migrant associations. Read More

Revisionism, ultimo atto "L'Anpi nasconde la storia"

Controversy over a partisan initiative in Sedriano. The center-right attacks the stele in Piazza Repubblica
Of Alberto Giannoni
It is inaugurated today, from the town hall 4, the first monument dedicated to the victims of the foibe in Milan. And it's all a flourish of initiatives, in the areas governed by the centre-right.
The stele that should be placed in Piazza della Repubblica instead, you can't see it yet, even if the Municipality announces an imminent meeting to break a stalemate that has been going on for years.
The history of memory is also a history of controversy. The massacres of the foibe and the exodus of the Istrian-Dalmatians have long been ignored or denied, for political reasons. The ancient taboo of the left continued to produce silence, or worse gaffe, provocations and revisionisms. And Sedriano also seems to be a similar case, where for the 9 February an initiative is organized in which, according to the centre-right, the history of the foibe is compared to fascism. «It's really shameful – comments Forza Italia MEP Stefano Maullu – that the Anpi tries to hide the responsibilities of communism: Anpi organized a conference entitled “Fascism, Headquarters, Exodus”, avoiding in all ways to allude to the killings and murders perpetrated by the communists". The smoke of 4 March promises to be dark

Of Giulietto Chiesa
Less than a month after the vote 4 March it is now clear that these next political elections will produce a parliament, however illegal, but they will not produce a government. There will not be a majority to lead the country.
Everyone says it: Berlusconi says so, Renzi says it, the big media commentators hypothesize it. A null political result is emerging. Who doesn't say it, for tactical reasons, he thinks so. Nobody is sure of a majority, let alone an assignment.
Polls are increasingly less credible, while a good third of the electorate says they are against going to vote. In reality, many more than a third will not vote, as a sign of protest against the political class that, in these last few weeks, is showing signs of real chaos, among rocks of bombastic promises of change that no one believes.

But the perception of the state of things is now general. The right - which claims to have an advantage in consensus - is not at all sure of its position. Looms over the right-wing alliance “four-legged” around Berlusconi (for now not a candidate for prime minister) the threat of a rapid split between Forza Italia and Salvini's League. Which, despite the alliance, he presents himself in all television debates with very different positions from those of Berlusconi. Not neglecting to say, every three words, That, if he will take “just one more vote”, he will be the head of government. An alliance, so, which could end up in first place (but certainly without a parliamentary majority), but find themselves split immediately after the vote. And the worries don't end there. How to govern yourself (if this were the outcome)? With this question the headaches become excruciating. Everyone knows that the starting hypothesis was something new “pact of the Nazarene” between Forza Italia and Matteo Renzi, head of the Democratic Party. But now? Once again the polls show the PD in free fall. An alliance with Berlusconi alone would not have the numbers. With Berlusconi plus Salvini he would have neither the numbers nor any decency. For too great divergences of intentions on topics such as Europe and the economy. The uncertainty of the new coalition weighs heavily on the left of the PD “Free and United” (LEU), product of the split in Renzi's party. How many votes will it take away from him? Nobody can predict it, but it will be a hemorrhage of at least 5%. Deadly for the new Renzi-Berlusconi pact. E, in any case, LEU declares its total unavailability for an agreement with the right and, therefore she will not carry water to Renzi, who he just slammed the door in his face.

Everyone, Then, fearing the judgment of the voters, they say they don't want to “mess up”, that is, they exclude alliances to which, actually, everyone thinks. And then? No majority emerges no matter which way you look at the mosaic. The M5S, for his part, he repeats that he will not make alliances with anyone. If he finished first, so, he would be alone. And then? At that time, in case of assignment (Surely”reckless”) That, in that case, the President of the Republic, could entrust him, he would go to Parliament waving his program and asking “convergences” in all directions. Being evident that no one “will converge”. although the M5S gives the impression of wanting to propose a government “anesthetized” to get out of an equally opposition “anesthetized”. But it is clear that “he doesn't want to win”, Why, if he won, he should immediately acknowledge that he does not have a majority. Someone puts forward the hypothesis, really adventurous, of an alliance between the League, — who abandons Berlusconi — and the Movement 5 position. Ma, apart from the numbers, which should become very different from what is expected, and which make such a government majority very hypothetical, there is the destiny of both. Such an alliance, taking into account the great differences in the composition of the electoral body of the two parties, it could negatively mark the fate of both. Too risky for both Salvini and Di Maio. And then it is evident that such an alliance (o “convergence”, as Di Maio says) It would last a few weeks at most. And then it would be all over again.

LEU more 5 position? Unless there's a fantastic exploit (that no one now foresees) of both, the majority isn't even there in a dream. Other outsiders are not visible on the horizon, also because the media does not want troublemakers who stir up the waters of this swamp. And therefore they only let those who are already in Parliament speak. The cacophony is already at its peak even without the disruptors of the out-of-tune choir. How do we get out of it? Returning to the polls in October. That is the 4 March will be just a stage. We will therefore need a transitional government. Everyone is thinking of Gentiloni and we can swear that President Mattarella is thinking of him too. But before we get to the new elections in October, a new electoral law will be needed. The current one is clearly unconstitutional and everyone knows it. How to do it? For now, no one thinks about it: the current headaches are more than enough. Nervousness increases. Many interpret the Macerata shooting, — where an avowed fascist tried to shoot dead several black immigrants — as a stark sign of worsening social tension. Which is now a sum of tensions: from that of immigrants, to the economic one, to that of unemployment and widespread poverty, in addition to the absence of new jobs. And the deluge of promises produces intolerance and protest.

"Il corpo di Pamela è stato sezionato in modo scientifico"

The autopsy on Pamela's body does not clarify many doubts, but it reveals important details. The second Nigerian also sold drugs
Of Lucio Di Marzio
The first results of the autopsy on Pamela Mastropietro's body do not dispel the doubts about the case, performed by the forensic medicine staff of the University of Macerata.
However, in the results delivered in the early afternoon to the Public Prosecutor's Office there are some important conclusions from the pool of experts.
According to Mariano Cingolani, doctor who carried out the exam together with colleagues Dora Mirtella and Roberto Scendoni “the body was cut in a 'scientific way’ and all organs are present”, but since “there are no traces of blood and urine on the remains of the corpse” the first investigations “did not allow highly significant results on an evidentiary level to be achieved”.
More could be known from further investigations that will be carried out next week, but in the meantime new details emerge regarding the legal profile of the case. According to the Macerata prosecutor's office, the Nigerian Desmond Lucky, accused of complicity in murder, would have sold one “very modest” quantity of heroin to the 18 year old found dismembered in Pollenza. However, there are no conditions for precautionary custody. Read More
