Instead, about the surprise appearance of a man dressed as Zorro from a balcony in the square, Salvini commented: “I love Zorro, I saw it and I like ironic and joking things, I don't like death threats. Long Live Fox. Long live freedom”. Then, as already done on the eve of the political elections of 4 March, he returned to show the militants a rosary and send kisses to the Madonnina placed on the spiers of the Cathedral.

“We rely on women and men of good will. We entrust ourselves to the six patrons of this Europe: in San Benedetto da Norcia, to Saint Bridget of Sweden, to Santa Caterina da Siena, to Saints Cyril and Methodius, to Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. We rely on them. And we entrust our destiny to them, the future, the peace and prosperity of our peoples” Salvini said. “Personally I entrust Italy, my life and yours to the immaculate heart of Mary which I am sure will lead us to victory, because this Italy, this square, this Europe are the symbol of mothers, Pope, men and women with a smile, with courage, with determination they want peaceful coexistence, they give respect but ask for respect” added the League leader. At the end of his speech, Salvini wanted to take a selfie overlooking the square with Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally and with Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Freedom Party.
