Like an orange hurricane, President Trump has overwhelmed the Old World. Visits by American presidents to Europe are usually a cosmetic operation. Not this time. Since the time of the Mongol invasion, not many visitors from outside have shaken Europe like he has. The president of the United States has finally freed himself from the cage built by his political opponents and started saying things that his voters wanted to hear.
His bold statements were, however, quickly undermined and disavowed by his minister advisors, creating the feeling that Trump speaks only for himself. Him too, in the end, he repudiated his own claims, saying he was misunderstood.
Trump increasingly seems like the protagonist of “The Prince and the Pauper”, the poor boy who happens to become king – and starts behaving unregally, showing mercy and caring for people. His own court ignores his commands. Trump says what people want to hear, but his administration sticks to its line.
During the first part of his journey he played the part of the rebel, in a world of weak men and formidable women. The West is in fact governed by powerful aunts and older sisters. Aunt Angela in Germany, Aunt Teresa in England, Aunt Brigitte in France. All that was missing was Aunt Hillary to complete the puzzle and establish complete dominion over her subjugated nephews.
