Salvini's real goal is to take over Forza Italia (and Di Maio is giving him a hand)

The leader of via Bellerio works on a center-right in his image and likeness. He wants to be Berlusconi's successor. And he needs not to break the coalition. The pact with Di Maio serves to consolidate a new bipolarism: their
Of Alessandro Franzi

Not the mortal embrace with the Movement 5 position, but the definitive conquest of the center-right. E’ This is the horizon that Matteo Salvini's moves seem to indicate, after transforming the League (Nord) in the first party of the first coalition that emerged from the elections of 4 March. The meeting with i 5 position – the first party – it is a necessity due to the lack of a numerical majority in Parliament. But it is also something more. Both Salvini and Luigi Di Maio intend to manage the birth of what they consider the third republic, no longer only disconnected from twentieth-century ideologies but also disconnected from ties with traditional political families. And to do it both leaders, Salvini and Di Maio, they banded together to weaken their opponents: on one side Silvio Berlusconi, on the other, the Democratic Party. And to rewrite the rules of the game: an electoral law with a majority bonus that can be certified in the next elections, when they will be there, a new bipolarism. Their. A strategy that may not even pass through a political government between the League and the M5S, which would kill off all the novelty in one fell swoop.
Who and how will go to Palazzo Chigi, but, we will only see it in the next few weeks. What is certain is that Salvini has had in mind for a long time a centre-right that some would rename "Lega Italia". The name is not important, as much as strategy. From the end of 2013, the secretary of the Northern League has worked on the construction of his national proposal, no longer limited to Northern Italy. It has adopted unifying slogans: against the sovereignty ceded to the European Union, against new migrations, against Islam. He caused scandal with his speeches based on the desecration of politically correct. And he inaugurated what he always does well: a permanent electoral campaign, which came down to the South, passing through the regions of Central Italy which rewarded him with often double-digit electoral results. Salvini represents the new right. Not just the radical one that has been talked about in recent months. His extreme message reached a moderate electorate left without references, and therefore ready to rely without intellectual hesitations. Salvini therefore also represents a new centre-right, which no longer has its totem in Berlusconi.

Those links between Casaleggio and Soros that the grillini brand as fake news

A document appears in which it appears that the company received from 2017 248thousand dollars to control militants and candidates
Of Fabrizio Boschi
Do you want to take the 33%. We never get rid of original sin. And we're not talking about someone like Rocco Casalino as head of communications or the black money paid to the millionaire Grillo.
But of the true black soul of the 5 position: Casaleggio Associati Srl.
Now something big appears that gives a good idea of the cunning of Casaleggio Associati, well accustomed to certain stratagems. A document from the controversial Open Society Foundations (one of the largest private foundations in the world supporting human rights groups, with an annual budget of over 900 million dollars), the company headed by the 87-year-old American billionaire George Soros (born in Budapest into a Jewish family, has a heritage of 25,2 billions of dollars, one of the thirty richest people in the world), much talked about for his speculative activities (convicted of insider trading) and of a suspicious philanthropy (he moved 18 billion dollars to the Open Society Foundations to pay less taxes as donations escape taxes), shows that Casaleggio Associati has cashed in on Soros' Open Society Foundations, 248thousand dollars since August 2017 to March 2018 for a project aimed at «changing, to push voters and candidates in the political elections of 2018 to change strategy on migration and euroscepticism". And a contact person is also indicated, Luca Elauteri, founding member and director since 2004 of Casaleggio Associati complete with e-mail (info@casaleggio.it). Elauteri deals with Content and Social Media Strategy in the field of digital publishing and new media. This document was discovered by Alessandro Cerboni, bioengineer from Arezzo, vice president of Assocompliance, for years close to the M5s who knows all the skeletons in Casaleggio's closets, a person too intelligent and qualified to stay with the Di Maio gang (in fact they sawed him off at the "parliamentarians"). Bannon: "Salvini e Di Maio facciano un governo insieme"

THE POINT OF VIEW OF TRUMP'S FORMER IDEOLOGIST
Steve Bannon, the ideologue of the American ultra-right who dragged Trump to victory, he says he dreams of an Italian government formed by the alliance between the Movement 5 Stars and League
Of Raffaello Binelli
L'ex guru on Trump, the one who gave life to the “alternative right” americana, derogatorily branded by opponents as “populist”, focuses on Italian politics.
He does it with an interview with the director of The Press, Maurizio Molinari. “Salvini and Di Maio? My dream is to see them govern together”, dice Steve Bannon without hesitation. “Sono espressioni diverse dello stesso fenomeno e superano, together with other smaller formations, half of the voters”. A real government

Of Giovanni Petrosillo
A real government
Source: Giovanni Petrosillo

The elections just concluded have decreed the victory of the 5 Stars in the south and the League in the North. F.I. is not doing well in the centre-right coalition., while Meloni's party strengthens. The Democratic Party has collapsed everywhere, even in the strongholds of yesteryear. Leu has just exceeded the barrier threshold. Ali estreme, Casapound and Power to the people, they practically do not exist as does the bogeyman of the fascism/anti-fascism opposition, with which the media tried to revive atavistic as well as imaginary diatribes (with the aim of channeling voters towards establishment groups).
Neither the Five Star Movement nor the centre-right have the majority to create a stable executive. The games are open for alliances that allow one or the other to settle in Palazzo Chigi. Salvini and his associates lack around fifty deputies and thirty senators to reach their goal. Many more at grillini. The latter, however, are the most voted movement in Italy and seem to have a better chance of making it by orienting themselves to the left. Renzi wants to prevent this from happening because he intends to create a personal party by splitting the Democratic Party. But if the latter enters the government no one would follow him anymore so he staged the first resignations-non-resignations in history.
In any case, both Salvini and Di Maio will have to come to terms with someone watering down their electoral promises, if not also their political vision which already wasn't that great.
The real crux of the matter is this: the world has the knife between its teeth again, dragged by the multipolar wave. Global power relations are changing. Russia creates unbeatable missiles. China increases its arsenals. Americans have never stopped spending on weapons and improving them. Other regional powers behave menacingly and flex their muscles where they can or where they feel they are entitled to. Italy is paying the price, both inside and outside the borders, weakening on all fronts. A threat from the markets is enough to change internal policy or a Turkish ship to reduce foreign policy.
In the face of these great issues that Grillini and Northern League supporters are saying? Di Maio flew to Washington and settled with some trilateral while Salvini went no further than criticizing the euro, to the EU and Germany, now they have also become more “constructive”. The rest of the programs are rubbish on citizen's income, Flat tax and other economic measures etc. ecc. which can soothe but not solve problems that are especially of a non-economic nature.
As Alberto Negri wrote instead: “Russia, Erdogan, the war in syria, Cipro, Israel, Egypt, Libya and Eni: a minute to understand the gas strategy. This is essentially how things are. If Russian gas goes to Erdogan, Russia will essentially bypass Ukraine and transfer a share of European dependence from Moscow to Ankara. The Tap project (gas dell’Azerbiajan all’Italia) it goes ahead anyway because it interests Turkey even if it competes with Moscow. But gas from Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean disrupts Turkey's plans to become a decisive gas hub for Europe. If we then add gas from Israel and Egypt to this, Turkey's strategic position weakens. Worse still if Iranian gas one day passes from Iran to Iraq to terminals in Syria: This is one of the reasons for the anti-Iranian proxy war against Assad by Türkiye and the Gulf monarchies. And finally, let's also include Algeria and Libya, already connected by two gas pipelines with Italy: and now we understand well why they got rid of Gaddafi. Italy, with Eni, it enters into all or almost all of the projects mentioned and this evidently annoys various regional and non-regional players. None of these strategic topics for Italy entered the electoral campaign at all: they are not difficult to understand I have summarized them here in 18 lines, or a minute of reading".
And it's not just about energy strategy but, above all, of geopolitical relocation of Italy and Europe in a context undergoing profound transformation. On this our so-called populists have said nothing and have nothing to say. There is no hope. These gentlemen did not understand the true spirit of the times, for this reason they are already losers and will not be able to do better (but not even worse, credo) of those who preceded them. However, being better than those who preceded them will not be enough to revive the country. Not doing bad or doing well is no longer enough, something great and innovative needs to be done here, reviewing the past to build the future, looking around where we are surrounded by wolves.

Sull'esito della tornata elettorale (by Marco Tarchi)

Of Marco Tarchi
On the outcome of the electoral round
Source: Vanity Fair

As he comments on the Movement's exploits 5 position (and of the League)?

Anything but unexpected. The symptoms of the growing disaffection of a good part of the electorate towardsestablishmenthad been evident for some time. It's a bit surprising that both managed to recover a fair share (Together, about the 10%) of those who until a month and a half ago declared they wanted to abstain.

He would technically define the M5S as a populist party?

No. I have always distinguished Grillo's political speech - which is fully populist - and the action of the M5S, which has tended to distance itself from it, especially after the death of Gianroberto Casaleggio. Today there are some traits of the populist mentality in the movement, but several others are missing.

Grillo said that the M5S managed to positively channel the repressed anger of Italians elsewhere (see France, Hungary and others) it was picked up by far-right movements. He agrees?

Yes and no, because I don't agree with the label of "extreme right" attributed to the Front National, to Orban or to the Austrian Fpö. They are populist parties. That said, Yes, the M5S also largely intercepted pushes that could have gone in that direction (Meaning what, from us, to the League).

Why has the M5S still achieved so much despite some stumbles in recent months? Voting for him is an act of faith? Read More

M5S, Cafés flooded with phone calls: "Dove sono moduli per il reddito di cittadinanza?'

In Giovinazzo, Municipality in the province of Bari, the Caf assailed by phone calls from the unemployed: “Give us the form to request citizenship income”
Of Claudio Cartaldo
Not surprising, or maybe yes. But in Southern Italy, there where the Five Star Movement he collected almost all the constituencies available in the last political elections, il citizen's income that seems to be the promise it has warmed the hearts of voters.
To prove it there would be a story that is causing quite a bit of discussion.
Calls for citizenship income
The story comes from Giovinazzo, small municipality in Puglia. In the Molfetta college (where Giovinazzo was located) Francesca Galizia, grillina candidate, got the 43% and in the municipality the votes were just under 40%. A win across the board. Bene. As explained today Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, in this citadel of 20 thousand inhabitants on the outskirts of Bari, but, the Cafs and the patronages were attacked with the request to be able to fill out the forms to obtain the citizenship income. “They won there Five Stars – the Caf employees were heard to say – now give us the forms”.
At first the operators thought it was a joke. But then the high number of phone calls made it clear that many had believed the promises had already been implemented grilled. Faced with the obvious answer that a similar module does not yet exist (and who knows if it will ever exist), many citizens turned to the municipal offices for confirmation. Read More

"Strategia del carciofo" The work of the Quirinale and the shield for Gentiloni

As he had predicted Matthew Castagna, in yesterday's interview, President Mattarella is taking his time, waiting for the center-right to look for allies, between individual deputies and senators, to have a majority in Parliament. Meanwhile, there is Gentiloni who continues the ordinary administration…(n.d.r.)
To find the majority you go by exclusion «Now he won't lift a finger». There is already a prime minister…
Of Massimiliano Scafi
Europe calls for it: "We have faith in the president". The centre-right, from Salvini to Tajani, encourages him: «We count on his wisdom and his ability».
Di Maio also flatters him: «The head of state will act with authority». Everyone looks at him, everyone is looking for it, everyone is waiting for his nod, a rabbit with a top hat, and what he does? Nothing, because nothing is exactly the best thing to do right now. «At this stage he won't lift a finger», they say from the Hill, because this is how the parties will move. Mattarella has no "prejudicial closures", it is neutral and wants to respect the citizens' indications, he will have his say at the right time.
He will say it in April, when the groups that will go up to the Quirinale will have to present themselves with a concrete proposal, made of programs and numbers. There, after the post-election decantation, we will see if it will be possible to extract a government from two non-majorities to give to the country. Being too active right away can only make the situation worse. Read More

Dust of 5 position

by Paolo Becchi on Libero, 14/02/2018
That they were not Franciscans had been known to everyone for some time. That was just Gianroberto Casaleggio's ideal, that he actually led a Franciscan life: an old car, a very old cell phone, dress modestly, austere life. The grillini in parliament, Instead, they pretended to be, but they all took home an enviable salary. From what is emerging now, however, the problem is not that they were not Franciscans, but rather that they were downright dishonest.
Transfers made and then withdrawn to a fund, wanted by Casaleggio, for microcredit (fund intended to support small and medium-sized businesses): a colossal hole, still difficult to calculate. Estimates speak of 1,4 millions, and the Movement itself has admitted errors and incorrect and/or inflated calculations. In short, many transfers are fake, because they were published as reported by parliamentarians but immediately afterwards revoked. If this is the honesty that was supposed to come back into fashion...
In recent weeks, 250 thousand euros have been paid hastily (130 the parliamentarians 128 the Europeans, that they really don't earn). Five days ago the senator Carlo Martelli and the deputy Andrea Cecconi, both leaders "blocked" in the next elections, they were forced to leave, Senator Maurizio Buccarella in the meantime has self-suspended: «rimborsopoli» is overwhelming the entire Grillino parliamentary group. It remains to be clarified how and if David Borrelli's move to the mixed group in the European Parliament fits into this story, one of the three members of the Rousseau Association.
