The left is in crisis today and is wondering how it could speak to the new populisms to lead them back to the tracks of an elitist democracy that resembles an oligarchy more than a democracy in the strict sense.

Hungary continues its policy of lowering taxes and tariffs. The newspapers and various Italian talk shows continue to ignore the economic revolution that is taking place in Hungary because they want to keep the people ignorant in order to prevent an ever-increasing number of people from starting to oppose the blood and tears measures launched by this government on behalf of the European Union.
For those who don't know (and unfortunately there are still many) a few months ago the Hungarian government decided to repay the debt contracted with the International Monetary Fund two years in advance in order to no longer suffer blackmail pressure from its inspectors.
After getting rid of these blackmailers and loan sharks, the government began to adopt a series of measures aimed at stimulating the economy and helping the weakest groups and thus decided to lower electricity bills, water, gas and urban waste disposal 20% and increased pensions to compensate recipients for the rising cost of living.
These measures would have been sufficient to improve the living conditions of Hungarians but the government has decided to go further and in fact in the tax bill recently approved by parliament new measures on family allowances and reduction of VAT from 27% al 5 % on live and slaughtered pigs. At the end of a decidedly close electoral contest, the verdict that came out of the polls has, indiscutibilmente, rewarded all those formations that, somehow, they imitate or are themselves considered “populist”. The reference applies to both the League and the Movement 5 position, US President Trump, the transalpina Lady Marine Le Pen, That, in the most recent past for the Forza Italia of the golden times and, really, in very recent times, as if by someone risky, also for Renzi of the original "scrap" version. A term whose meaning has included a bit of everything and its opposite.
But what exactly do we mean by “populism”?? What is the exact political meaning in which this term should be placed, very fashionable nowadays? If we want to refer to the letter of the history of political movements, by “populism” we mean a series of movements that, at the end of the nineteenth century they developed in disparate contexts. In Russia, Populism was represented by the “narodnjki”, whose most authoritative exponents were the colonel and mathematics professor of the Military Academy Pyotr Lavrovič Lavrov, supporter of populism in a socialist key, together with its popularizer and idelogue, the sociologist and literary critic Nikolai Konstantinovič Mikhailovsky, having as its object the emancipation of the peasant masses, starting from the rural/"obscina" community.
