The controversies that come from seem to say this Verona. This is where, il 19 January, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of his immolation, the cultural association “Nomos – Terra e Identità” organized a musical event with the patronage of the province. The only initiative dedicated to the European martyr that has institutional recognition. But around the Democratic Party they defined it as a "Nazi-rock" concert due to the participation of bands that have always performed on the stages of identity events.

And so the requests for cancellation immediately began to pour in, at least, the revocation of the province's patronage. In the blink of an eye, the case became international. The Student Council of the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of Charles IV University in Prague has launched a petition calling for the cancellation of the concert. Jan Palach, they say, he fought for democracy and freedom and it is not tolerable that the radical right appropriates his legacy. Six senators from the Czech Republic also held the same opinion and took the time to write to the president of the province, Manuel Scalzotto, urging him "to immediately withdraw support for the initiative".

For the president of the regional council Massimo Giorgetti, Instead, “It is absurd to say that Guccini is entitled to remember Jan Palach and a right-wing musical group is not”. While the senator of the Northern League William De Vecchis he added: “It is dismaying to see the stale polemical streak of the left focus on demonizing moments of community sharing just because they are not promoted by them. They won't stop us though.".
