The cowardly silence on 50 priests and friars massacred by communist partisans in the foibe: these victims are of no interest to memory professionals, perhaps because they were at the service of the Catholic Church and not the Synagogue.

Among the many, many thousands murdered in the foibe there were at least 50 priests. Ranieri Ponis dedicated a monograph to the story, entitled “Stories of Istrian priests killed to erase their faith”, published by Litografia Zenit.

The Slavic invaders in fact tried to attack first of all those who were in various ways part of the Italian ruling class or in any case points of reference and aggregation, such as intellectuals, and politics, entrepreneurs, the teachers, the ecclesiastics.

The hatred towards the latter also derived from the ideological beliefs of the Yugoslav partisans, Tito being Stalin's close ally at the time.

After the total cancellation of every Italian civil and military body in Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, only bishops and priests capable of representing the Italian population remained on site, who was usually very religious.

There is no doubt that, among the causes that led the Italians of Venezia Giulia to the exodus, religious persecution played an important role, which was also carried out with the specific intention of pushing the Italians to leave.

February 1945: i 30 friars massacred by communists in Bosnia

Bosnia and Herzegovina: i 30 martyrs of Široki Brijeg in memory of Fr. Jozo Zovko

During the Turkish domination of Bosnia-Herzegovina, twelve Franciscans originally from Herzegovina and coming from Kresevo in Bosnia, they decided to build a monastery in their homeland, as a sign of faith, and chose the location of Široki Brijeg. They settled in this little village and, after having bought a large plot of land at a high price, they began to build the church, dedicating it to the Madonna Assunta in Cielo. Work also began immediately to build the monastery and subsequently a building to be used as a seminary.

Nearby they built a school center which also included a gymnasium where the friars taught the young generations of Bosnia-Herzegovina. A house was also built for all those who came from afar to attend the school. Thus the place became a Christian cultural center and the sanctuary transformed into a symbol for Herzegovina. Exactly one hundred years later the monastery was destroyed and devastated.

It happened like this: il 7 February 1945, the communist partisans decided to destroy the Christian symbol from its foundations and eradicate the Catholic faith and the benevolence and gratitude towards the Franciscan friars from the hearts of the people.

Holy Land – The frescoes of the Crusade

The Christian neighborhoods of Damascus hit

At least 14 missiles were also launched today on the Christian neighborhoods of Damascus, causing 5 dead, lots of damage to buildings, to shops and cars, and several injured. Even the headquarters of the Greek Catholic Patriarchate was hit by bombs today, as yesterday the Franciscan and Maronite Churches were hit. ” Today I am very discouraged, I see a dark future for us. We are convinced that there are countries ( America and Israel first) that they don't want Christians in the Middle East. If there are Christians there is resistance, there is identity and consciousness; without Christians they will be able to say that they are all bad, and if only Muslims remain it will be easier to have pretexts to take Syrian land. The case of Ahed Tamimi, a sixteen year old Palestinian girl tried for beating an Israeli soldier. For the same crimes, Israelis and Palestinians suffer different punishments.

On January 1st the Israeli military court of Ofer, West Bank, filed twelve different charges against Ahed Tamimi. Sixteen years old, resident in Nabi Saleh village, known for the long popular resistance against the wall and the expansion of Jewish settlements, Ahed is known to everyone who has spent any time in the Occupied Territories: since she was a child she has occupied the front rows of Friday protest marches, together with the women and children of Nabi Saleh, in his hand a camera or a red card to show to the Israeli soldiers.

A 130 years after the death of the general. Chancellor

Il 6 January 1888 the general died. Hermann Chancellor, supreme commander of the papal army from 1865 al 1870. We remember the 130th anniversary of the general's death with the voice ofCatholic Encyclopedia dedicated to Kanzler, edited by Paolo Dalla Torre (1910 – 1993), son of Joseph (director of the Osservatore Romano since 1920 al 1960) and author of “The year of Mentana. Contribution to a history of the Papal State in 1867", published in 1938 and seized by the government of the time because it was in contrast with the holographic historiography of the Risorgimento.

The text of the Catholic Encyclopedia highlights the profound admiration and gratitude that every Catholic should have for the general, who was very faithful to Pope King Pius IX and who consecrated his life to the defense and service of papal Rome. In particular, Dalla Torre defends Kanzler's actions in the excited hours of 20 September 1870, responding to criticism from detractors (of yesterday and today). The text is integrated with some information taken from "The Kanzler-Vannutelli papers of the Vatican Archives" (Vatican City, Vatican Secret Archive, 2013), which we have inserted in brackets.

The United Nations General Assembly has created a vacuum around the USA (and to Israel) for the decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Without, but, no practical consequences.

And so, the United Nations General Assembly condemned Donald Trump's decision, who decided to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, recognizing this city as the capital of Israel, with a very large majority: 128 Countries in favor of the censure motion, 35 abstained, solo 9 opposite. The vote has a purely consultative value and the result was predictable, why Trump's move (which also recognizes East Jerusalem as Israeli, which the UN instead considers "occupied territory") it upsets seventy years of international diplomacy.
