FIFTH COLUMN
by Marcello Veneziani
On a Sunday in May disguised as November, God's judgment finally arrived, the electoral ordeal that will have to decide the submerged and the saved, or if you prefer, the saved and the damned. Important day from a symbolic point of view, before being political. But how was this told 26 May by the media and crooked powers? Like Monster Day. Euromonsters to be destroyed, called sovereignists, presented as a danger to humanity, for Europe and for individual countries.
But to replace them how, with who, with what? Ecco, this is the glorious mystery of this electoral cycle. In Italy everyone knows well that there are no viable alternatives in the field, none of the opponents of the Two-Headed Monster has the possibility of winning and then changing the government of our country. They are forces that at best gather a fifth of the voters or are well below, and there are no signs of alternative alliances.
The call to arms against returning Nazism will produce minimal electoral effects, if not ridiculous, to the advantage of the forces opposing the Monster. In the present reality there is no one who can seriously challenge the government in office with any possibility of replacing it. And even less so in the event of early political elections: you cannot govern without working alongside each other, and in a minority position, to one of the two monsters in question. Either you govern with the League or you govern with the grillini. There is no other solution.
In his formidable performance in which he seems restored like the film of an old film, Berlusconi Seven Beauties he pretends to still be the leader of the centre-right with an unshakable faith in himself – a case of boundless self-admiration. Imagine that the League could return to the fold and be directed by him, which according to him is the Mind, while they are the arms or feet, service or locomotion personnel.
The left does it even worse: attacks the Monster par excellence, Salvini, but he assures that he will not get engaged to Little Monster, that is, the ally Di Maio. After the vote maybe there will be a distinction: no alliance with Di Maio but with a Figo, for example, and. But in the meantime their death toll on the government, what does it actually translate into??
In a forbidden dream, which Berlusconi has just mentioned, which Mattarella has never uttered, and which the left pretends not to know. The dream is Draghi. Mario Draghi, Sir Marius Drake per la letteratura globish.
The ECB governor's mandate expires in October, and it could become the card to be played by Europe and Italy's anti-sovereign opposition forces. No one is so stupid and suicidal as to hope to return to the polls with the probability of seeing Salvini and the League confirmed by popular acclaim as the first leader and the first party in Italy.
So what do you hope for? That Grillini and Northern League members are unable to overcome the discontent accumulated during the electoral campaign and the obvious differences on almost everything, combined with a blatant mutual intolerance. And let them separate. On the other hand, Europe will raise the specter of Italian collapse, and then he will beg Draghi - or his substitute - to take on the task. Draghi was, it must be said, an effective president of the ECB, sometimes he took the chestnuts out of the fire and invented some financial Marshall plan to support the states and support the banks. But he has been homogeneous with the Euro-global Establishment for a lifetime. We continue to remember his key role in the days of Yacht Britannia, when Italy privatized and sold off its jewels on the orders of its superiors, on His Majesty's ship flying the English flag.
But what scares you the most is the film you've already seen. A country dispossessed of its sovereignty, stunned and frightened by the blows of spreads and rating agencies, which relies on the grand commis of the European institutions. Yesterday Monti, tomorrow Draghi. Mario I and Mario II, zone euroconcessionaires. And goodnight to the populists, to the sovereignists, to voters.
Probable hypothesis, possible or not? We do not dare to make predictions but the destructive fury of the opposition, of the left in particular, leads to this solution, with the blessing of Mattarella. We mentioned it days ago, then we heard and read confirmations around, we saw Berlusconi get excited about the Draghi hypothesis and try to put his hat on, remembering that he had sent it, not his government, but him himself, to the European Central Bank. Maybe Draghi prefers to think about the Quirinale or something else, given the bad end of its predecessor and namesake, the fatal Bocconian Mario I, of the Monti di Pieta. And after seeing Cottarelli's abortion.
To tell the truth, the grillina recipe in economy, so unrealistic and so unsuccessful, it brings us straight to a Draghi-type technical government. To those who like the Draghi hypothesis, there is nothing to say. But who doesn't like or even worries about this hypothesis?, to those who believe that popular sovereignty is a non-negotiable good, national and political, compared to the Eurocratic protectorate, the alternative is clear: either you vote for the sovereignists or you vote for everyone else, of the Draghi cooperative. The sovereignist choice translates primarily into Salvini, the Absolute Enemy and the Concentric Target of this large group of strong powers and fake allies. Or Meloni, for those who believe it is useful to vote for the sovereign but favor the fall of the government with the Grillini.
Who likes Drago Draghi and his retinue, all that remains is to hope for a mutilated victory for the sovereignists and an imminent collapse of the government and the country, to allow Global Relief to arrive, wanted by Europe, from the Left, and alternately by Berlusconi. Those who hate the Grillini in government but don't want to surrender to the Pawn Shop, it can only focus on the sovereignists. This is what is at stake, Monsters vs. Dragons.
