Because the story disappeared?

Everyone complains that history has disappeared from school curricula and final exams. And everyone is ready to say that we are "prisoners of the present" and of the web, as many say, from Liliana Segre to Giuseppe De Rita up to Sergio Mattarella. But why history has disappeared from schools, it is the fault of the government in office and its reform?
Italy has been traveling through amnesia for years now, nausea and satiety with history. Yet we Italians had many defects, we have never been big readers, but the historical passion involved us, it even excited retrospective fans. History was blood and life. There were widespread historical magazines, and History a Illustrated History, opinion weeklies sold more when they had historical personalities and investigations on the cover (in particular with the leader). Where the right has gone?

THE QUESTIONS WE ALL ASK OURSELVES IN VIEW OF THE EUROPEANS

by Marcello Veneziani
Where the right lurks today, that is, that varied and contrary world that once recognized itself in weeklies such as Il Borghese and which voted mainly and with some reluctance for the national right? It's easy to say that that world converged and dispersed in a defined centre-right area, up to the people of freedom, is found today partly in Salvini's League, partly in Brothers of Italy by Meloni, partly in not voting, and to a smaller extent ended up between the Grillini and the Berlusconi supporters. But we are not interested here in establishing the representation quotas and the map of the diaspora. We are rather interested in questioning the important themes that defined a right.

The first: where the social right ended up? There are conspicuous traces of national right-wingers, above all because the positions of the Brothers of Italy and the Salvinian League on migratory flows and the diktats of Europe are known. But there is no trace of that social right which was the peculiarity of the right and its line of distinction from liberalism and the liberal right. It must have been Berlusconi's washing machine, it will have been the unfortunate outcome of Finian and the current of the same name, but today the social right is not seen, not even under any other name.
Second question: but the right as national is anti-European, in favor of italexit or not? The right from which we started has always been national but has never been anti-European, if anything it has become so since Europe was reduced to the EU. He believed in a Europe as a nation or accepted De Gaulle's idea of a Europe of Homelands, but he no longer thought in terms of introverted and closed nationalism. The strong theme for a right of the future will be to save Europe from pro-Europeans; the technicians, eurocrati, the most European. A true right must advocate for national sovereignty within European sovereignty, recall Europe as a civilization and as a response to the globalized world. Read More

Siamo ancora fermi al '68

Feminists on the warpath, declarations of hatred and contempt towards families, or rather towards Dio, homeland and family, hate campaigns against carabinieri and policemen, fights for abortion, free sex and legalized drugs, planetary revolts against the powerful of the earth, against the model of development and discovery of ecology and the devastated environment, campaigns against homosexual and racial discrimination, declarations of love for the third world, and blacks, the "wretched of the earth", doors open to all, boundless society, I lower the walls and the brakes, lenient with transgressors, intolerant of conservatives, accusations of fascism against anyone who is not on their side, On the contrary, elevation of fascism to a metahistorical category, libertarian pacifism, but let's shut the mouth of anyone who doesn't agree...
But we had already seen this film, I remember the sequences. A long time ago. We were teenagers, but I remember those slogans, those faces, those processions, those signs, those posters, those campaigns… But yes, right. We were in '68 and so on. Judging the triple mobilization of our days against the powerful of the earth, against the defenders of the family and against the defenders of the borders, of states and nations, in favor of the landings, I realize that the common thread remains there. The vicious circles of history. Round and round we are back to fifty years ago, in the time of black and white. And in fact there is no middle ground, there is no color shade, there is a radicalization between those and these, between silent majorities and thunderous minorities. There is an ethnic separation between the two worlds. Right, in the meantime the 1968 mentality came to power, it became Zeitgeist, Spirit of the Time, dominates communication and orientation agencies, controls two thirds of the teaching staff, much of the intellectual class, communication. Lo spacco d'Italia

FIFTH COLUMN

by Marcello Veneziani

The political situation in which we find ourselves is truly curious and unprecedented: there are two forces that are becoming more and more radicalized every day, opposite each other but they govern together; and in between, to the center, there are oppositions. I don't think there are equals in the world and in our history.
On the one hand there are the grillini who are enemies of both modernization, as demonstrated by their battles against the Tav, great works, the infrastructures, development, but at the same time they are enemies of tradition, as demonstrated by their position against the defense of the family, considered a return of losers to the Middle Ages; their refractoriness to national issues, to safety, to the protection of civilization and love of patriotism. On the opposite side are Salvini's Northern League supporters which present themselves in exactly the opposite direction as the force that on the one hand wants to modernize the country, make it efficient, full of construction sites and public works and on the other hand it wants to safeguard the natural family, traditional society, civilization and national security. Arrestatelo, praise the family

“Christus Rex-Traditio will be present to bear witness to the right to Life, to have mom and dad, to be Catholic, without compromises. We will be well represented by’ Lawyer Gianfranco Amato, who is among the speakers. Obviously, we will not participate in any initiative or prayer march on the sidelines of the conference”.
FIFTH COLUMN

More than the world family congress, scheduled in Verona at the end of the month, affects hysterical mobilization, ideological and intolerant nature of the Italian left, of its aircraft carriers in the press, against the family and its context. We can disagree about the role of the family, and even more so on the demonstrations in his favor; but it cannot be defined as subversive the defense of the family, evoke fanaticism, extremism and totalitarianism to disqualify those who promote it, and then reduce life principles and practices to "shit"., of faith and culture like God, homeland and family that denote the history of humanity and of every civilization. There is a sense of something barbaric and bestial, a vulgar tavern nihilism, an erupting and obtuse progressivism in the positions taken against the family, against love of country and against faith in God. No one expects that even in these cases the crime of opinion will be sanctioned for those who insult and vilify these principles and these historical experiences, as happens today in the name of racism, of xenophobia, of sexism and homophobia. Blessed/cursed identity. Altro che "fine della storia"

Of Marcello Veneziani
Source: Marcello Veneziani
What is the secret of the events that are changing the world, the engine that drives Putin and Trump, Bolsonaro and Le Pen, Ab and Modi, Orban e Kaczynski, Erdogan and Duterte, Brexit and the European populist and nationalist wave, up to Salvini? It is Identity. Ancient word with a new meaning; it comes from philosophy and the principle of identity, it comes from history and culture, designates peoples, indicates the personal identification document. Identity, sometimes intensified by an adjective: national.
An intellectual who is half political scientist and half philosopher dedicates an essay and a dry title to Identity, half Japanese and half American, the famous Francis Fukuyama. Yes, the one who stirred the intellectual world thirty years ago with his essay on The End of History. Then he predicted the triumph of the liberal-democratic order and the American model. Long disputed and even derided, Fukuyama imposed himself on the world debate. This is what happens now with his latest book, in Italy subtitled The search for dignity and new populisms (User). Fukuyama is not a particularly sharp thinker, original and profound, but he photographs the state of things today like few others, offers a global vision of the present. Panoramic photo, from the point of view of ideas in action. Fukuyama seeks a third way beyond the national-populist right and the politically correct left which has stopped representing "the white working class" and defends minorities and elites. For him, identity is a threatening animal to be tamed in a liberal sense, democratic, humanitarian. This is what he thinks of the nation which he wants to remove from nationalism and neutralize within a framework of rules and perspectives in line with globalisation. Read More

Manifesto for the womanly female

FIFTH COLUMN

by Marcello Veneziani
For the Women's Day, instead of usual, banal bunch of mimosas, I would like to offer you a praise of the female, matriarch and woman and an exhortation to conquer that role. After decades of feminism and working women, that come out, who live more outside than inside, lesbians in the square and cubists on display, let's take a ruthless assessment. You are truly better, you feel more accomplished, you are happier or more alienated, more employees, more frustrated? A Copernican revolution is needed to regain the lost home and the female dignity that lived there. Without taking anything away from everything else.

Fear of the future

Forty years ago, these days, the story ended, modernity ended and the twentieth century stopped beating, as we had known it until then. The name that indicated this leave or this collapse, it quickly went viral: postmodernity. It was called The postmodern condition Jean-Francois Lyotard’s epoch-marker, released in 1979 which opened the dance and the escape from history and the ideology of progress. The postmodern it did not just designate an artistic conception, but it marked the liquidation of the furious century, of ideologies and great stories, the end of public spirit, the return of the private individual who was then called Reflux, which today only has a gastro-esophageal meaning. In postmodernity, the ancient returned in false guise, like a grandfather disguised as a grandson, it was the short circuit of history, communism became phlegmy and then showed the sign of its defeat, political terrorism was ending its golden age which then culminated in the Years of Lead. The twentieth century of two world wars was now buried, great revolutions and civil wars, irruption of the masses and genocides. “With history I light my pipe” announced Roland Barthes. Then it was Gianni Vattimo who certified in thought "the end of modernity".
Commercial TV and private radio exploded, the rebellious spirit of '68 turned to sex, customs and consumption. Read More

The Southern Kingdom is with Salvini

FIFTH COLUMN

by Marcello Veneziani
Welcome to the South. It seems like a surreal film but instead the story is coming true. Matteo Salvini he will be crowned King of the South as early as the spring European Championships? Until now he had received sympathy, pats on the back and crowds of onlookers, promises of consensus. Ora, with the conquest of Abruzzo the southern passion for the League is no longer a rumor but a certified reality. Salvini began his conquest of the south from Abruzzo. And the south is preparing to throw open its doors and crown the League as the first party.
It is a novelty with triple jump: after having turned its back on the southern political class of the first republic, and after the Berlusconi season more An, the south now turns its back on the last leader of the protest, the 5 Star Movement, and opens the doors to yesterday's Po Valley enemy, the slayer. How can we explain this radical change? It's just a passing infatuation, a phenomenon of media illusionism that affects a sensitive electorate, disorientated, iridescent?
The past centuries are full of sovereigns and conquerors who came from the north and were enthusiastically welcomed by the southern people. That south that refused the Piedmontese conquest, who missed the Bourbons and rejected the subalpine dynasty that spoke French, in the end he remained faithful to the Savoy to the point that to the south, al referendum, the monarchy won against the republic. Nausea for a “correct” world

Nausea for a “correct” world
Source: Marcello Veneziani
But when will the dictatorship of political correctness end? Years pass, governments change, the people rise up. But from Hollywood to Sanremo, from TV to literary prizes, from news events to history adapted to the present, domination continues regardless of life, of truth and reality. The script repeats itself, to infinity.
Nausea has been creeping in for some time towards that suffocating cloud, sometimes parody takes the place of canon. Many deplore it, il politically correct, even his agents, those who administer his sacraments every day; and this is the sign of aging, creak, it fossilizes. But in the end, domination remains and the real mystery at this point is the absence of alternatives: the anger is there but there are never different options. Yet just look for them. In cinema, for example, at least three Oscar-worthy films were released this year: Cold war arrived from the east, but it touched on the theme of communism, albeit only briefly. The usual great film by Clint Eastwood has arrived from the States, The courier (in the past Clint was even awarded, but now the Oscars are pure black-homo-racial catechesis). And a great film has come out in Italy that we have already written about, The first King, on the founding of Rome. But the Oscars only go to black people, racism-nazism-negritude, more homosexual and me-too. And we fall back into political correctness.
But what is Political Correctness?, Let's try to give it a precise definition and content. To begin with, political correctness is the claim to tell others how they should be, what they have to say, how they should behave. It therefore presupposes a point of superiority on the part of the judge. Read More
