Saint Francis of Assisi: an anti-pacifist ode

Saint Francis never proposed a pacifist Christianity. He was undoubtedly for peace, ma, da santo, it couldn't have been for pacifism. Being peaceful means believing that peace (first and foremost with God) is an important value; being a pacifist means believing that peace is the highest value; and this is wrong because peace (as the absence of war) must be subordinated to the value of justice.
After the conversion, the entire life of the Saint of Assisi was marked by the anxiety of saving sinners and as regards non-Christians he was not interested in "dialogue" but in conversion.
Regarding the meeting with Sultan Melek-el-Kamel there are two important testimonies: that of Tommaso da Celano (the most famous biographer of Saint Francis) and that of Enlightened Friar, eyewitness of the meeting between Saint Francis and the sultan. Read More

Memories of an era – Fra' Ginepro, the Franciscan who brought Mussolini back to the Faith

He was a priest, Don Ennio Innocenti, theologian and historian, famous radio preacher (his broadcasts entitled “Listen, it's evening"), as well as founder of the “Sacra Fraternitas Aurigarum in Urbe”, to reconstruct Mussolini's path towards faith. He did it with a book, “Dispute over the conversion of Benito Mussolini”, published in Rome in the mid-nineties, precisely from the Fraternitas (via Capitan Bavastro 136, 00154 Roma). Don Ennio Innocenti had dedicated twelve years of research and personal investigations to this unusual story. At first, had revealed what Father Eusebio OFM had confided to him, born Sigfrido Zappaterreni, chief chaplain of the Black Brigades, moved to Argentina after the war and died in Buenos Aires. Several times - this was revealed by Father Eusebio to his brother - he received the sacramental confession of Benito Mussolini.
