La storia della massoneria a L'Aquila
Artemia Nova Editrice announces the presentation of the book History of Freemasonry in Abruzzo by Serpentini and Di Giovanni. The event will be held on Friday 3 May at 18.00 in the Mondadori Book Store in Piazza Duomo.
A substantial work by 308 pages in which the two authors look back the events of Abruzzo Freemasonry from its beginnings, when to the notable cultural revival of eighteenth-century Naples, That, together with the increase in economic and cultural exchanges with other countries, led to the so-called "Neapolitan Enlightenment", gave great impetus to the Masonic phenomenon, until the reconstitution of the Abruzzo lodges after the war.
The book reconstructs the development of these ideas and the history of the first Lodges, from those of the protagonists of the "Teraman Renaissance" of the late eighteenth century to the Castrensi lodges of the Napoleonic period. This is followed by a detailed reconstruction of the diffusion of Carboneria in Abruzzo and an analysis of its relations with Freemasonry in the early nineteenth century., the description of the resumption of Masonic activity after the Unification of Italy and of the events relating to the complex framework of Abruzzo Freemasonry in the second half of the nineteenth century and the first years of the twentieth century.
The dualism between the Grand Orient of Italy and the new Obedience of Piazza del Gesù is then outlined, arose with the Perano schism of 1908, and then move on to the debate between neutralism and interventionism on the eve of the Great War and the relations with Fascism, until the elections of 1924.
