Trenton McKinley, a little boy of 13 Alabama years (USA), considered "brain dead" he woke up from a coma shortly after his parents had signed the form authorizing the removal of his organs.
Last March Trenton was at a friend's house playing with a trailer towed by a car, after a sudden stop, he found himself catapulted onto the concrete and the trailer, overturned, it landed on top of him, hitting him on the head: seven skull fractures and severe brain trauma.
Hospitalized at the USA Medical Center, he was placed on life-sustaining ventilation and had to go through a series of dramatic tests: craniotomia, 4 cardiac arrests one of these lasting for 15 minutes, renal failure. At this point the doctors told the parents that their son would never return to "normal" and if he woke up he would remain in a vegetative state and that if he had another cardiac arrest, it would have been better to “let him go”.
