All this, journalistically, it doesn't make sense. The insult was there, sure enough there was, very heavy. And although Macron himself then partially corrected the aim, judging the Italian government “cynical and irresponsible”, the case is serious.
The Italian press must not be embarrassed, who if anything should be indignant. It should be the French because it is not the Italian position that is unsustainable but theirs.
