THE SECRET OF LA SALETTE (5/95)

THE TIMELINESS OF THE MESSAGE OF THE VIRGIN MARY

Current relevance of the message of the Holy Virgin
THE SECRET OF LA SALETTE
(5/95)
Il 19 September 1846, The Mother of God appeared to Melania Calvat and Massimo Giraud
The relevance of the message sent to them still amazes.

For some time we have been hearing about statuettes of the Madonna weeping blood: public opinion, Catholic and non-Catholic, she was disturbed or astonished by it.
Regardless of what personal beliefs may be regarding these manifestations, they lead us to reflect on the meaning that such realities have always had in the history of Christianity.
Leaving the final judgment on recent events to the legitimate ecclesiastical authorities, we observe that, already in the last century, the Holy Virgin, in apparitions recognized as authentic by the Church, he entrusted messages and prophecies to visionaries which then promptly occurred.

GOOD FRIDAY: THE WAY OF THE CROSS FROM VERONA

by Editorial Staff

Often in our world, who is no longer accustomed to reading, an image, a cartoon, a photo speaks more than articles or theological treatises.
In the time of universal deception, of the spread of secularization, of the rejection of the True and the Beautiful, it is necessary to persevere in testimony, also public, of the Catholic Faith, sole root of our European civilization.
Friday 19 April, GOOD FRIDAY, let us all stop to remember the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross for the atonement of our sins. The God made Man who was rejected 2000 years ago, he then conquered death and was resurrected, indicating to us that whoever follows Him will not die forever.
For this Friday we honor the Passion of Christ, son of the living God, with the recitation of the Via Crucis, at hours 18 along the route with the stations of the Madonna di Lourdes Sanctuary on the Torricelle (Via dei Colli 2) a Verona. Whoever wants, participate, behind the Cross, built specifically for the occasion.

Sant'Alfonso sull'ecumenismo, on tolerance and interreligious dialogue

[Premises on true religion and social order] Even the unbelievers say that divine revelation would be contrary to the peace of the republics, since she would forbid the Church to tolerate any other religion that does not follow revelation; and this would be the cause of a thousand seditions and discords among peoples. Therefore they cannot suffer the evangelical dogma, that outside the Catholic Church there is no health. This is how Rousseau writes (Emil. t. 3. p. 172): “God forbid that I ever preach to men the cruel dogmas of intolerance, and that leads them to hate their neighbors, telling others; you will be damned”. Adds in the same place: “Intolerance is a horrible dogma, what a weapon against each other, and makes them enemies of the human race”. So the deists would like our Catholic Church to allow ecclesiastical tolerance, with which the people were made to believe, “that every good man, in any religion that lives, can save himself”: thus speaks the named Rousseau in the letter on page. 86.
They say that religion must be regarded as a national law, a law of pure external politics (as Rousseau himself writes in the aforementioned letter), which consequently does not oblige, that as long as one resides in the country where such a law is in force. Beautiful rule of believing and operating! From this it would follow, than a Christian, if he dwells among Christians, must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and Savior of the world: if among the Turks, must believe that Jesus Christ is but a miserable precursor of Muhammad: if among the Jews, an impostor and seducer. But all this belief would be external, since according to the deists internally everyone can believe what they want; and behold, with the dogma of tolerance, a public school of hypocrisy opened, abominated by the Gentiles themselves, who after having forced the Christians through torments to renounce the faith, they then mocked them and despised them, if those out of weakness denied it. Besides, according to the deists, tolerance is based on the interest of the state and the government police, it follows that, the reasons for the interest and the police changing over time, we will change the dogma of tolerance together; hence those who previously had to tolerate each other, over time they will no longer be tolerated. So the dogma, by unbelievers judged essential to religion for the common good of peace, it will be a variable law over time? Therefore the essential dogmas of religion are also variable? Read More

Class XII: You shall not be fornicated! – The «marriage in film»

Dio, the name of God and the worship of God constitute the "first table"; the next one, the duties and rights of human life appear in the "second table" [of the Commandments, ndR]‚ which with the first forms the Decalogue, almost in that way that the love of God and the love of neighbor come together to create a single love that pours from God onto neighbor. The precepts contained in this "second table" are more numerous, which deserve many comments; but how could we fail to remember the words «Non moechaberis» [Exodus, XX,14]? That's saying too much, if We regret that the countries are against this commandment, who boast of being more civilized, present a spectacle of deeper moral devastation, and if we add that its vestiges are visible even in the eternal City? We know well – and we talked about it extensively on another occasion – how much economic and social reforms also have an effective influence on saving marriage and the family; but such salvation, ultimately, it remains a religious duty and office, whose healing process must start from the root. The whole conception of the field of life, which falls within the sixth commandment, is infected by what could be called "marriage in films" which is nothing other than an irreverent and immodest display of the contaminations of marriage and marital infidelities, which leads one to see the wedding free from any moral ties, only as a scene and source of sensual pleasure, and not as the work of God, as a holy institute, natural office and pure happiness, in which the spiritual element always dominates and dominates, as a school and at the same time the triumph of a love that was faithful to the grave, up to the door of eternity. Reviving this Christian vision of marriage among the faithful is perhaps not a duty of the care of souls? AND Read More

Class XII: Rome center and mother of Christian civilization

For the city of Rome the sanctification of the holidays also takes on and has its own special note and aspect. Rome is the center of the Catholic Church; holy city, for the copying of its Christian monuments and its historical memories, for its Basilicas, for its sacred and solemn functions, to which the faithful flock from all sides in times of peace, who in their concept and heart venerate her as an inspiration, animator and glorifier of holiness. What a painful disappointment it would be for all those, in whose homeland the Sunday precept is fully respected, observed and maintained, if here in Rome they found nothing other than one of the many large cities, who with their profanation of the holidays are co-responsible for the disintegration of the Christian world order?

Class XII: Teachings on the seventh of the Commandments

(…) Times of economic shocks and disruptions (…) they doubly require the exact observance of the seventh and fifth commandments concerning the goods and life of others, because otherwise the danger becomes too great that loyalty and fidelity in acting and dealing with each other will disappear to such an extent as to make civil life little less than impossible and unbearable.. [It is necessary to counteract] dishonesty in handling business, the reckless and perverse exploitation of present difficulties, and particularly the imposition of exorbitant prices and the illicit hoarding of the things necessary for life (…): violations of justice that cry out to God. Everyone sees and understands how necessary it is to prevent such temptations and watch over oneself, not only with conscientious probity in my and your relationships, but also with an unperturbed and lively sense and generous hand for everything to which Christian charity inclines and pushes and which social justice demands. From the works of mercy: feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, dress the naked, accommodate pilgrims, visit the sick and prisoners, – oh, how all these pains and worries from the nearby reality resonate in the present hour in our ears! – perhaps they don't depend, according to the solemn assurance of Christ, in the last judgment the blessing or the curse, joy or pain for all eternity?
