Political Theology n 83. Taxation cannot compensate for the deficit caused by an improvised administration

Studying the main programmatic points of the extinct Italian Political Center, we noticed that in § 11, mentioned last week, it reads: «The imposition by the State Authority of fiscal taxes is justified by the correspondence of its services to the needs of the common good and must have an equally progressive impact on capital income compared to labor income. Once these premises have been achieved, it must reinstate itself in the public consciousness, also with respect to tax laws, the concept that these, when they are right and rightly applied, oblige in conscience". (cf. New All., Quad. VIII, p. 29).
Let's try to delve deeper, albeit with summary. The tax is that tribute (or that tax) that the State withdraws from private wealth to cover its expenses and to provide public services (which do not necessarily all have to be immediate). There are two subjects involved: the legitimate Authority and the subject, therefore its moral aspect is twofold. The existence of the State is of natural necessity and must have the common good of its citizens as its aim, therefore he must have the means, also cheap, to be able to actually achieve it. It may happen that the State is unable to obtain otherwise (p. es. selling energy to the neighbor) these means, totally or partially, so that we understand that he has natural right, within certain limits, to demand taxes from their subjects

Pope Pius XII on the immoral use of marriage and contraception

• Often the child is unwanted; worse, it is feared; how could readiness for duty still exist in such a condition? Here is your apostolate [the Pope is speaking directly to the midwives] must be practiced in an effective and effective manner: first of all, negatively, rejecting any immoral cooperation; therefore also positively, turning your delicate care to dispelling preconceptions, the various apprehensions or pusillanimous pretexts, to push away, as much as possible, even external obstacles, which can make accepting motherhood painful. If we do not resort to your advice and your help to facilitate the procreation of new life, to protect it and guide it towards its full development, you can certainly lend your cooperation; but in how many other cases are you resorted to to prevent the procreation and preservation of this life, without any regard to the precepts of the moral order? Breve storia dell'Islam raccontata dal Dottore della Chiesa Sant'Alfonso

From Sant'Alfonso Maria de' Liguori, «History of Heresies» (Part III, Cap. IV), «Truth of Faith» (Cap. VII – Heresies of the 7th century), and other places.
Muhammad, founder of this deadly sect, the Mohammedan one, which has infected most of the Christian world, was born in Arabia a year 568 (Mecca, 570 approximately – Medina, 8 June 632), according to Fleury, from a well-known family.
Father died, he was introduced to the art of trading by an uncle. At the age of 28 years, he was taken first as a factor and then as a husband by a noble and rich widow, call Khadijah. He was educated in idolatry, but over the years the idea of changing religion and thus making it change for all Arabs developed, who were idolaters, propaganda, as he recklessly claimed, the ancient religion of Adam, of Abraham, of Noah and the prophets, among whom Muhammad also included Jesus Christ.
For a long time he pretended to have familiar conversations with the Archangel Saint Gabriel in the cave of Hira, located not far from Mecca, where he often retreated. In the year 608, Muhammad having reached i 40 years, he began to proclaim himself a prophet inspired by God, and as such he initially made himself recognized by his relatives and servants; then he began to preach in public in Mecca, reproving idolatry.
People didn't listen to his words, requesting some miracle from him to confirm his mission by divine mandate. Muhammad replied that he was sent by God not to perform miracles, but only to preach the truth. With all this, the impostor, in his Alcorano, boasts of having performed a miracle, but very ridiculous; saying that, «a piece of the moon having fallen (…), he had been able to put it together: and therefore the empire of the Mohammedans has the feat of the half moon». Giuseppe Federici Study Center – For a new onset

Press release no. 29/19 of the 2 April 2019, Saint Francis of Paola

The first contentious divorce in the Italian republic of a non-marriage between two women.

The maintenance allowance for the first “contentious divorce” of a homosexual couple
Until a few days ago, Italian civil unions had been dissolved by mutual consent. Meaning what, no disputes.
But it happened that two women in a civil union did not reach a consensual agreement and the economically stronger one asked for a judicial divorce, ended with a historic ruling.
The protagonists are two women who had already lived together permanently since 2013 and that they had only been able to perfect their bond in 2016, thanks to the Cirinnà Law on civil unions. Legislation that essentially equates this institution to marriage, but it allows immediate access to divorce without going through the separation phase.
In Italy the procedure for dissolving a civil union is in fact very simple: just go to the civil registry officer of your municipality and communicate that the couple no longer intends to be together; after three months, we move directly to divorce.
Until a few days ago, Italian civil unions had been dissolved by mutual consent. Meaning what, no disputes. But it happened that two women in a civil union did not reach a consensual agreement and the economically stronger one asked for a judicial divorce, ended with a historic ruling.
The Court of Pordenone established that the economically stronger spouse must pay a maintenance allowance of 350 euros per month to the weakest one, a sum that will increase if the more fragile woman decides to leave the house they lived in together.
The Judge of Pordenone thus justified the sentence: the weaker spouse had left their city of origin and a more remunerative job to move to Pordenone and be together with their partner/wife, with which he had renovated and furnished a property that had become the family home; the two women had lived together for some years.
After all, if there is no obligation of fidelity for civilly united couples, instead, there is a mutual obligation to provide moral and material assistance and cohabitation. Both parties are therefore required, each in relation to their substances and their ability to work professionally and at home, to contribute to common needs.
So, equalization of civilly united couples with married couples even in the phase of dissolution of the bond.

Prayer of Saint Pius (before work)

Glorious Saint Joseph, model for all workers, obtain for me the grace to work with a spirit of penance for the expiation of my numerous sins: to work conscientiously, putting the cult of duty above my inclinations, to work with gratitude and joy, considering it an honor to employ and make profit, through work, the gifts received from God: to work in an orderly manner, pace, moderation and patience, without ever retreating in the face of tiredness and difficulties: to work especially with purity of intention and detachment from myself, always having death before my eyes and the account I will have to pay for the time wasted, of unused talents, of the omitted good, of vain satisfaction in success, so disastrous to the work of God. All for Jesus, everything for Mary, all in your imitation, or Patriarch Joseph! This will be my motto throughout my life and at the moment of death. So be it.

Pope Pius XII on the worship of God and the sanctification of holidays

• The worship to be given to God. At first [observation necessary to restore society] concerns the very meaning of the worship to be given to God, a sense that in the last hundred years has become obscured even among the faithful. If in fact it happens at all times that in the sanctuary of personal religious life men seek and study to advance their own interests, this was seen beyond measure verified and proven under the influence of the proud and vain materialistic culture, who lorded over modern generations. They wanted to reduce the relationships between God and man to God's help in material and earthly situations; for the rest man wanted to do it himself as if he no longer needed divine support. The worship of God became a concept of the useful; religion fell from the sphere of the spirit into that of matter. Religious practice was limited to asking favors from heaven for the needs of the earth, almost reckoning with God; faith wavered, if the help did not respond to the desire. That religion and faith, above all else, mean worship and service of God; that there are Commandments of God, who always oblige, in every place and in all circumstances; that for the Christian the future life dominates and determines the earthly one; these concepts and these truths, which support and guide the intellect and will of the believer, they had become strangers to the thought and feeling of the human spirit. What remedy should be offered to this distortion?? It is necessary for the great truths and great concepts of faith to return, as life and reality, in all classes of the people, in high schools even more than in those who are disinherited and tried by poverty and poverty down here. There is perhaps no more urgent need than this in religious education at the present time, which not only demands it, but it also makes it easier to provide for it, because how much evil and misfortune humanity now experiences due to the decadence of morality and justice, comes to be a terribly open and painful correction of the false idea of God and of religion distorted in its practice. It has been said that the wonder of these years is the millions of faithful who honor God and serve him, submitted to his Commandments, although they found themselves in conditions of unspeakable hardship. Certainly such devout and fearless Christians, pride of the Church, there are, and yourselves, beloved children, you know quite a few; work with zeal, so that they may increasingly grow in number among the believers entrusted to your care.
