This year too, the report on the implementation of the law was sent to parliament 194/78, with the final data for the year 2016, published a few days ago on the portal of the ministry of health. The undeclared objective of this relationship is always the same: show to the public, numbers in hand, the presumed successes of the unfortunate law 194, in terms above all of a presumed significant and constant decrease in the overall number of abortions in Italy.
The system used to present the data is also always the same: the numbers of legal abortions in the various years of application of the law are indicated and compared to the latest data, those relating to the last year examined. It therefore turns out that in 2016 the children killed were "only" 84.926, il 3,1 percent less than the previous year, that is, well 2.713 fewer abortions. Furthermore, the data on the basis of which is highlighted in the report itself, compared to 1982, year in which the highest value of abortions was found, the number of them has more than halved.
A great success therefore, if it were not for the fact that the true comparison of the data should be carried out between the years before and those after the law. In this way we would discover the obvious, namely that the true comparison is between 0 legal abortions of the year 1977 (the year before the entry into force of the criminal law 194) they 84.926 of the 2016. Besides the fact, admitted in the same report, that there is a significant number of infanticides that escape statistics, since chemical abortions are increasingly numerous, especially following the determination of 2015 which eliminates, for adults, the obligation of a medical prescription for the Ellaone pill, the emergency contraceptive better known as the five-day pill.
Ma, beyond the usual ideological propaganda fueled by the regime media, what we are most interested in highlighting in the report is the significant data relating to clandestine abortions.
The State, in collaboration with the Istituto Superiore della Sanità, has developed a new estimation model with more updated and recent information, such as the structure of the population of childbearing age, fertility trends and contraception. Well, according to these estimates the number of clandestine abortions, always during the year 2016, is included between 10.000 and the 13.000 unit, given that it has remained fairly stable in recent years. That is, in Italy, everyday, die killed on average approximately 30 children due to clandestine abortions, and it is not the prolifers who assume this but the ministry of health itself.
This fact is emphasized as if it were in favor of the law 194, given that the trend would still be decreasing, especially compared to the year 1990 in which they esteemed themselves, as reported in the report itself, circa 72.000 clandestine abortions…
It must be said, however, that pro-abortion propaganda has always maintained that the legalization of abortion would have definitively removed it from clandestinity.. Not only that, the 194 it is one of the loosest European laws given that abortion is practically free in the first three months of gestation, very easy to ask for and obtain in the following months (a diagnosis is sufficient, even if only presumed, of fetal malformation).
How is it possible to explain this apparent contradiction? Effectively, the law 194 it transformed, in fact, the crime of abortion as a human right. For it, Indeed, the particular interests of the woman take precedence over the right to life of the unborn child, the latter downgraded from a human being with inalienable rights to a simple offshoot of the mother's body. So, even the labile ones, hypocritical and unscientific "boundaries" contained in the 194 they are experienced by the woman as an unacceptable limitation of her presumed right to have an abortion. In addition to the fact that the crime of clandestine abortion has also been decriminalized, with a decree of 2016.
Therefore, the clandestine abortion industry, far from having been strongly opposed by the introduction of legal abortion, has seen, on the contrary, increase customers and turnover, as also demonstrated by the scandals that have come to light over the years, above all the sadly famous one of the Roman clinic "Villa Gina", in which investigators uncovered a real center of clandestine abortions and violence against women which managed a millionaire turnover.
Almost forty years have now passed since the unfair law came into force 194 and the lies built around it struggle to fully come to light, thanks to the climate of general acceptance of the current legislation, still prevalent even in the Catholic and prolife sphere. Nevertheless, we cannot call ourselves authentic defenders of innocent human life if we do not condemn state abortion without ifs or buts, if we limit ourselves to proposing and undertaking only initiatives to support motherhood and generally combat abortion, if we don't fight for the law 194 be definitively canceled from our legal system.
These, however, must be our final objectives, such are the objectives of the March for Life. For Life without compromise, is the slogan of the March, which this year will take place in conjunction with the fatal anniversary of the forty years of "life" of the law 194. It will therefore be the 19 next May that two opposing visions of life will face each other in a particularly evident way, in which the clash will take on a very strong symbolic value; it will therefore be the right time to definitively take sides, to choose which side to be on: or on the side of good and truth, therefore against the law 194, or on the side of lies. To each his own choice.
