Six out of ten Italians don't read. Better. Reading is useless
Always there same old story. The newspapers, during the holidays, not knowing how to fill the pages, instead of taking the opportunity to talk about serious things, year after year they re-propose questions already heard and articles already written, changing just a few commas. In recent days, funeral singing is in vogue, on score provided by Istat, to complain about missed readings of the Italians. Data in hand – obviously, no one talks about how the survey was conducted –, it seems that six out of ten Italians don't read. The other theme that returns, more or less every quarter, along with this, that's what most of us think would not be able to understand a text of medium complexity. Il Courier also recently provided an example, to clarify what is meant by this abstruse formula of "a text of medium complexity". He brought back a passage from The Catholic school of Albinati. I tried reading it too, to see if I understood it but, sincerely, Maybe I didn't get to the end because I fell asleep first.
In short, Italians don't read and the reprimand begins. Instinctively I smile. And so? What unhealthy idea animates our intelligentsia to lead them to think that whoever reads is a better man, or smarter? Ma, Then, read what? Reading Balzac makes you better? Or read a construction engineering text?
