Pretoria, 18 Mar – Mandela's dream of a "rainbow nation" is turning into a nightmare even in the eyes of the most incurable optimists. Impoverished, with a crime rate among the highest in the world and with increasingly strong ethnic tensions, South Africa is approaching next year's elections 8 May amidst a thousand uncertainties. Among the hot topics of the electoral campaign there is undoubtedly that of land redistribution, or to be more precise the question of the expropriation without compensation of the lands of white farmers. The president Cyril Ramaphosa, expression of the historic governing party African National Congress, a few months ago he gave his approval to the proposal to amend the Constitution to allow a more "fair" redistribution of land.
The advance of the Marxists
Weakened by numerous corruption scandals (especially during the Zuma era), the ANC partially succumbed to pressure from left-wing parties. In particular those of the Marxists ofEconomic Freedom Fighters, led by the extremist leader (as well as former youth leader of the ANC) Julius Malema. The posters with his "big face" are the most visible on the streets of Pretoria, despite the extremist tones (during rallies he threatens to kill white people) in the next elections it should increase the votes significantly compared to 6,5% of the last political elections. The EFF motto leaves no room for doubt: “Our land, jobs now“.
Il Freedom Front Plus, Afrikaner party
But among those who say they are certain of increasing the votes there is also the Freedom Front Plus, reference party for the Afrikaner community. You have microphones The National Record the leader of the deputies Anton Alberts look forward to the next elections with confidence 8 maggio: “The polls show us strong growth. At the moment we only have 4 deputies, we can aim to double“. A difficult challenge for those who are forced to collect in the narrow confines of the white population, now reduced to around 8% of the total 57 million inhabitants of South Africa.
Among the Freedom Front Plus' concerns is the ever-increasing crime and in particular the incredible murder rate among the highest in the world. “We are especially alarmed by the killings of farmers, the so-called “farm murders”. They are often real massacres, they are first tortured and then murdered". Alberts points the finger at the policies of the ANC: “Special laws were passed to replace the whites, but also Asians and Indians from jobs and favor blacks. Not to mention the silence regarding the genocide that white farmers are suffering. The ANC is a real government mafia. And the international media are silent or pretend not to see".
The appeal to Europeans
Alberts then launches an appeal: “We want Italians to realize what is happening here. Because while you fight your problems, like immigration and the bureaucrats of the European Union, we are fighting against Marxist extremism in South Africa. Because they are waging a war and they are waging it on us. E nWe need your help to resist. And we therefore ask our friends in Europe and other countries to take a stand and help us. We do not allow genocide in South Africa“.
