Italy's isolation and interest are called Libya and Egypt, not Venezuela

The newspapers, always prone to the most vulgar and reassuring conformism, they associate the Venezuela affair with the TAV but not with Libya or Egypt and speak of Italian isolation. Italy was already isolated in 2011 when they decided to take out Gaddafi, the country's biggest defeat since the Second World War which destabilized the entire political framework. The same countries that did it thenThis, France, USA and Great Britain, they have never supported Italy, and they will never support it, in containing the Libyan and refugee disaster. Staying out of Venezuela is the least that should be done: explain it delicately even to Guaidò who doesn't even know where the Mediterranean is and what wars there have been, civil and international. He will learn what the solidarity of Western and European hypocrites is. We have already had deaths here from drowning at sea and from the wars unleashed by the USA and its allies. We didn't want them. We are not isolated for Venezuela or the TAV but for Libya and Egypt: we may have received some solidarity for the Regeni case? But there is certainly no talk of democracy for Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates massacring civilians in Yemen. And much less is said about Erdogan who fills the prisons with opponents and Kurds but blackmails us on the refugees. So let's stop playing court jesters with the USA and Europe as Mattarella and a bunch of parties led by cowardly and ineffective people want. If they really want to be interventionists, let them do so against smugglers and criminal militias on the coasts of Libya, the European Sophia mission also foresees this. Otherwise they find someone to do it for them but stop acting like ridiculous defenders of democracy thousands of kilometers from here for the interests of others. We didn't know how to defend ours.

But what is Italian policy in Libya? No one is really able to answer despite Salvini and Moavero's visits to Tripoli. Indeed, Italy seems almost isolated, despite the Tripoli government being the one recognized by the international community as opposed to Haftar's power, backed by France, Egypt, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. In reality, American support for the Italian positions also appears very evanescent: the impression is that Trump told Prime Minister Conte the same nonsense about Libya that Obama told Renzi, that of our pre-eminent role in Libyan affairs which in practice the other powers do not recognize in us except in words. Even the publicized conference on Libya in Rome, to be held in October, it appears incongruent if the French and Haftar position prevailed in order to hold new elections, even just presidential ones (without legislative and constitutional reform).
