Lara Zelski , the principal of a school in Atlanta, did not think clearly about the interests of his local community when he informed parents and faculty that the morning flag pledge would be eliminated and replaced with a pledge to “the school, the family, the community, the nation and our global society”.
“Over the past two years it has become apparent that an ever-increasing number of members of our community have chosen not to stand and/or recite the pledge.”, Zelski said. “This is a very heartfelt topic and we want everyone to, in our school community, can start their day in a positive way”.
Zelski does not provide any figures to make it clear what she means by “an ever-increasing number of members of our community” That, presumably, they would despise the flag.
