Alexandre Benalla, the former head of security for the president Emmanuel Macron, return to make the walls of the Elysée tremble. This time it is the Senate that is hitting the French presidency hard. The commission of inquiry investigating theaffair Benalla indeed delivered a twenty-page report in which he speaks openly of "major dysfunctions" in the Elysée security system.
According to the French press, Macron's former bodyguard and security officer was actually "the weak link of the security of the head of state". But not only that, the Senate commission pointed the finger directly at the Elysée, which in his opinion gave "excessive" importance to Benalla, while no one from the security organization was able to contain the man's actions. For the commission of inquiry, Benalla represented a real "source of fragility for the safety device".
