The victims, attacked because they claim the right to pray like men, they denounced the condescending attitude of the police
They have “celebrated” on March 8th attacking dozens of women guilty in their eyes of lack of respect for a Sacred Place. Thousands against brave women, determined to assert their rights. Ultra-Orthodox Jewish groups, mostly young students from yeshiva, the Talmudic schools Groups of Orthodox Jews attacked several dozen Jewish women “reformed” gathered to celebrate the beginning of the Jewish month of Adar and the 30th anniversary of their organization. The “Kotel women” (that is, of the Wall) they claim the right to pray like men wrapped in the Jewish cloak and to read portions of the Bible in public. A claim that for those who believe they are the masters of Jewish orthodoxy is equivalent to a profanation.
Judges and executioners: here they are attacking women, insult him, barely stopped by the police. The ambush had been planned as a military action. Several girls from religious schools have told to Haaretz that their schools organized a bus service that took them to where the protest against the members of “Women of the Wall”. Nava Meirsdorf's testimony is also dramatic, a young Israeli woman studying at a conservative rabbinical school: “I had closed my eyes while I was praying – he says -. Un j’accuse che viene rilanciato da Yael Dayan, champion of women's rights, writer, several times Labor MP: “The violent attack on the Women of the Wall is a very serious matter – says AD HuffPost the daughter of the hero of the Six Day War, il generale Moshe Dayan – anche perché non è un episodio isolato. Memory goes to Shira Banki, 17 years, stabbed to death at the Jerusalem Gay Pride in August 2015 by an ultra-Orthodox Jew recently released from prison. Together with the young woman, the religious extremist had stabbed others 5 people.
The attacker, Yishai Schlissel – arrested immediately after the attack and now accused of murder – during a Gay Pride event in 2005 he had already stabbed four other people and for this he had been sentenced to 12 years in prison. Three weeks before returning to action he was released.
