A left-wing think tank, an unscrupulous business man. And a plan: make money with eco. There is something disturbing about the "Greta phenomenon", now come to us on the occasion of Holy Week
The little girl is now the icon not only of radical environmentalism, but of all that part of public opinion that loves to simplify everything on the basis of moralistic schemes.
In his most famous speech, at COP-24 in Katowice, Thunberg adopted Jacobin tones to contrast the purity of her youthful ideals with the interests of those powerful adults who would keep a small portion of humanity in luxury, even as they sacrifice the rights of the weakest.
How is it possible that this girl was called to speak in front of experts from all over the world? In Katowice, Thunberg spoke as a representative of an organization called Climate Justice Now. In short, the network of ecological movements decided not to send a fifty-year-old aware of the complexity of the problems and very coldly played the media card of a still childish face lined up in defense of the entire world.
Obviously, Greta knows very little about the topics she talks about. Climate change is not a simple issue and it is being discussed, what's more, only part of the problem. Ecologists imagine authoritarian solutions, imposed by a global power, but those who care about individual freedom are legitimately skeptical of this.
What's more, it is absurd that this girl has been made into a sort of rock star present at every international gathering. And one wonders how far the cynicism of those who are using his image for business calculations and Manichean rhetoric will go..
When will the story that is at the origin of little Greta be constructed, one day by Jean-Paul Juncker and immediately after by Pope Francis, we will discover the ambitions of a singer mother who has already written a book («Scenes from the heart»), a dynamic marketing company (la «We Do Not Have Time»), a think-tank created by former Social Democratic minister Kristina Persson: of the very party that nominated the little girl for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Give time, the Swedish media are highlighting various unedifying sides of the story. In particular, many have underlined that Ingmar Rentzhog is behind the company «We Do Not Have Time» and the project of a new social network aimed at raising public awareness on climate issues. The goal is to engage the environmentalist world in a sort of thematic Facebook: and it is easy to imagine what the commercial implications of the operation are.
Business is business, but it is certainly not very noble as it is said in Stockholm that this businessman is continually using the girl's image to raise funds. This was openly denounced by Svenska Dagbladet il 9 last February. The newspaper was one of the first to make the young woman known, but was later scandalized by Rentzhog's behavior: who was unable to find solid arguments to justify his actions.
Its one thing, At that time, Greta is certainly right: sometimes adults are ferocious. Especially those closest to her.
