It will arrive in the Holy Week of 2020 il seguito del "The Passion" di Gibson: "The Resurrection of Christ"

It should arrive in cinemas around the world during the Holy Week of 2020 the "sequel" to the famous film "The Passion" which a few years ago was a resounding success around the world, sparking a series of controversies, unjustified, on some scenes.
“The Resurrection of Christ”, this is the title of the next film, should be completed by the end of 2019 and the production company has already confirmed the return of the central cast from the previous film: Jim Caviezel (Jesus), Maia Morgenstern (Maria), Christo Jivkov (Pilate) and Francesco De Vito (Pietro).
In the intention of Mel Gibson, also the director of this second film, the time frame that the film will follow is very short (3 days), come on 3 from the afternoon of Good Friday until Easter Sunday, a time underutilized in other films about Jesus.
It has been confirmed that it is the continuation of Mel Gibson's first film and that its plot begins where the previous one ends: from the burial of Christ. Then he will follow step by step the three days of anguish experienced by the Apostles until the resurrection. At the same time, also follows the intrigues taking place in Herod's palace and ends with the events that took place in Jerusalem on Resurrection Sunday.
Samuel Goldwyn Films will sponsor this project, a film that has a budget of 20 million dollars. The same equipment as the first film will be used for filming.
DanGordon (author of The Hurricane or Alcatraz ) wrote the first version of the script, which was then substantially modified by Randall Wallace (author of Braveheart , in which Gibson triumphed in the dual role of director and actor).
According to the producer, the film will develop themes related to power, to the greed and ambition of some characters involved in the crucifixion: Pontius Pilate, Erode, Caiaphas and Judas.
Mel Gibson announced: “The film will not just be the narration of an extraordinary event such as the Resurrection of Christ, but also of all the events that surround it, and which further testify to its meaning".
The locations used for filming the film are located in Israel, Morocco and some areas of Europe.

  • Hopefully Mel Gibson, remained of the Catholic faith, despite his family misadventures(separated from his wife and children because he fell in love with another woman…) and continue to construct a film similar to the previous one. It scares me a little that the filming is done in Israel, nation where Christianity is mocked and ostracized like the Palestinians.
