The United States failed to gain public support for a strike in Syria in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma, northeast of Damascus. It therefore appears that they immediately circumvented the UN and international law, instructing their delegates in Tel Aviv to carry out the initial strikes against the Syrian T-4 air base on their behalf.
CBS, in his article “US denies missile attack in Syria, Russia says Israel did it“, he states:
Missiles hit an air base in central Syria on Monday morning. However, the Pentagon immediately denied the claims made by the Syrian media, that the attacks were “American aggression”. After a war monitoring group said Iranian-backed militants were killed in the attacks, Russia blamed Israeli jets.
An Israeli attack is still an American attack
Regardless of who actually conducted the attack, this was ordered by the United States.
American policy makers, who have been seeking regime change in Syria and its ally Iran for decades, they meticulously wrote down their plans. These include covert terrorism, staged provocations, fake peace offerings e even the use of Israel as an intermediary, to carry out those attacks for which the US itself could not initially find justification or public support.

In the document of 2009 di Brookings Institution, “Which route to Persia? Options for a new American strategy towards Iran“, in a section entitled “Allowing or encouraging an Israeli military attack”, it is said that:
…the biggest advantage this option would have over an American air campaign is the possibility that only Israel would be blamed for the attack. If this proves true, then the United States may not have to deal with Iranian retaliation or the diplomatic backlash that would accompany a military operation against Iran. It would allow Washington to keep its own pie (delaying Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons) and to eat it too (avoiding undermining the various other regional diplomatic initiatives).
The report also states that:
Perhaps it is easier to convince Israel to launch the attack, rather than generate domestic support for another war in the Middle East (not to mention the diplomatic support of a region extremely wary of new American military adventures).
The same report would also say that:
As noted in the previous chapter, however the air raids are actually just the beginning of this policy. Again, the Iranians would undoubtedly rebuild their nuclear sites. They are likely to answer to Israel, and perhaps also to the United States (which could create a pretext for American air raids or even an invasion).
It is clear that these options, arranged for Iran in 2009, have been repeatedly used against Syria. The fact that US aggression has stalled in Syria and has not yet fully manifested itself against Iran indicates a balance of power against Washington.
The response of Syria and allies to these fake chemical attacks, provocations and attacks will determine whether Washington's failed attempts at regime change will result in a withdrawal, or whether they will provide a pretext for an even larger and more destructive war.
An American failure in Syria will probably forever abort plans to reaffirm its global pre-eminence, at the expense of a multipolar world order. How far the United States and the special interests that drive its policy – regardless of elected representatives – are willing to go to preserve global hegemony, remains to be seen. The task of Syrian intelligence, Iranian and Russian would be to ascertain this, thus preventing a wider war, and bringing the USA back into its borders, like international law, public opinion and even the American people demand.
