R. The Circumcision of the Lord is the feast established to celebrate the memory of the blood shed by Jesus Christ in the first days of his life.

R. Circumcision in ancient law was a rite instituted by the Lord, to mark those who belonged to the people of God, and to distinguish them from the unfaithful people.

R. Jesus Christ certainly was not subject to the law of circumcision, because it was made for servants and sinners; and Jesus Christ was the true Son of God and author of the law, and it was the same holiness.

19 D. What must we do to celebrate the feast of the Circumcision according to the mind of the Church?
R. To celebrate the feast of the Circumcision according to the mind of the Church we must do four things:
1 worship Jesus Christ, thank him and love him;
2 invoke his most holy Name with deep faith and respect, and place all our confidence in it;
3 practice spiritual circumcision, which consists in removing sin and every disordered affection from the heart;
4 consecrate to God the entire year that begins, and pray to him to give us the grace to pass him on in his divine service.
