The leader of the powerful Iraqi militia Harakat al-Nujaba he pledged to side with his ally lebanese, Hezbollah, if a new war breaks out with Israel. The reports it The Times of Israel. The general secretary of the movement, Akram al-Kaabi, yesterday afternoon visited the tomb of Hezbollah's top commander, Imad Mughniyeh, pseudonym Haj Radwan, to commemorate ten years since his death in Damascus. The commemoration comes during the worst military crisis between Syria and Israel but also in a phase of extreme tension between Israel and Lebanon, with Hezbollah and the Israeli armed forces ready to go to war again. But it is a visit that also demonstrates the absolute solidity ofShia axis which reaches the Mediterranean from Tehran and where Iran's allied forces have strengthened a political and military alliance which now leads them to all be united in a common front. Al-Kaabi confirmed this, That, on the sidelines of the ceremony in Beirut, he declared: “We in the Iraqi resistance will stand with Hezbollah, e we will stand with Hezbollah in any Israeli attack or action against it“, dice Carbine.
A commitment which for the Iraqis is equivalent to honoring a pact signed in recent years between the sands and cities of Syria and Iraq and which will see Harakat al-Nujaba fighting with Hezbollah “in a single row, on a single front, just like we were with them on a single front in Iraq or Syria.". Both Harakat al-Nujaba and Hezbollah fought alongside Syrian government troops and other allied militias to oust ISIS from major cities in eastern Syria last year, including Abu Kamal. The two forces have given extremely important support to Syria and its allies and now they find themselves having to think about war again, but this time not with the black flags of the Caliphate, but with a decidedly stronger opponent.
The construction of the Middle Eastern axis that contrasts with Israel's dreams represents a mosaic of different militias but all united by a common adversary and by a sort of shared summit: l’Iran. L’Iraq, in this war, it represented a political victory for Tehran, which had the opportunity to resolve the independence attempt of Iraqi Kurdistan and created the conditions for the recognition of Shiite popular forces in Iraqi politics. Today Baghdad, while still remaining connected to the international coalition, which contributed to the liberation from ISIS in particular with the offensive on Mosul, in any case it also owes its survival to the forces supported by Iran. A state that has been able to manage the war and the armed forces linked to it in a very pragmatic way and obtained an ally of fundamental importance in the Middle Eastern chessboard, just like Iraq.
In this excited phase of the war in Syria, where it is now difficult to even understand who the real enemies are and the reasons why we fight, Israel is radically changing the dynamics of war. So far his raids have been surgical, while now it has started a carpet bombing campaign that has wiped out about half of the Syrian anti-aircraft. These actions, combined with growing tensions with the Lebanese Hezbollah forces and with the belief that Syria e Lebanon form a united front, carries the risk that an accident in Syria could also trigger war on the Israeli-Lebanese border. A border where the reasons for waging war, Unfortunately, there is no shortage and where the Russia seems to be the only superpower really interested in a truce. The continued visits to Lebanon by leaders of other Middle Eastern forces to support Hezbollah demonstrate that Nasrallah was not wrong when he said that a war with Israel “could open the door for hundreds of thousands of fighters from across the Arab and Islamic world to join this fight – from Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan”. It won't be a one-on-one war, but a fire of still little quantifiable proportions and which will involve the entire Middle East. With only one certainty: it will be more devastating than the last conflict between Israel and Lebanon.
