LOCRIS (REGGIO CALABRIA), 23 DEC – The Locri Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigations against the suspended mayor of Riace Mimmo Lucano and others 30 people in the Xenia investigation conducted by the financiers of the Locri Group on alleged irregularities in the management of the reception of migrants in the municipality of Reggio Emilia.
The Prosecutor's Office also accuses Lucano of criminal conspiracy, fraud, false, participation in corruption, abuse of office and embezzlement. Lucano had been placed under house arrest on 2 last October – then revoked 16 October and replaced by the residence ban in Riace - on charges of aiding and abetting illegal immigration and illegal activities in the direct assignment of the waste collection service. Now the prosecutor also disputes the more serious crimes for which the investigating judge had not accepted the arrest request.
“I am at ease with my conscience because I didn't do anything, in fact I tried to help humanely and I didn't take advantage of anything; I hope that conscience prevails" Lucan had the courage to say.
