SURROUNDED BY IMMIGRANTS I FELT AFRAID

I believe that feeling closeness towards those who resemble us in history and culture, and feel discomfort or annoyance towards those who may be hostile to us, is absolutely normal

A few days ago I ended up at the station, the Milan station, all 5.30 in the morning, when “Milan is still sleeping”. I crossed the porch among a cloud of young dark-skinned men who scrutinized the people passing by.. They probably had no bad intentions, but it certainly isn't pleasant to be a single woman in that situation. Yes, I admit it, I felt afraid.
Yes, I admit it, I thought about my phone sticking out of my pocket – It is true, I have an expensive phone, they gave it to me, like practically all the valuable things I have. Yes, I admit it, I felt annoyed, because we weren't a bunch of people going to catch the train, situation in which obviously I would not have paid attention to the color of the skin. The situation was single white woman going to catch the train, dozens of black men who apparently have nothing to do and are walking around in the dark. I'm racist? Probably by Boldrini standards yes.
I know that a Nigerian midwife at Fatebenefratelli in Rome probably saved my son's life, and when years later I met her in another hospital I thanked her and hugged her, and I am happy that that woman came from Africa to Italy to bring her professionalism and ability. Instead, I know that there are swarms of young people with skyrocketing testosterone, without work or dignified existential prospects, with little to lose, they are dangerous.
UNEASE, FEAR, NUISANCE
I believe that feeling discomfort or fear or annoyance towards a group of people who, also because they are induced by circumstances, they commit a higher percentage of crimes – it's statistics – is absolutely healthy. I also believe that feeling a closeness towards those who resemble us in history and culture is absolutely normal. I believe this is one of the forces that has shaped the history of men on earth, and that was a push that led to building, defend, make it grow, keep. On the other hand, God also chose a people to begin his love story with man, one people, and he jealously guarded and defended it from enemies. Right, then Jesus comes to say that salvation is also for others, but first he came to bring salvation for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
In short, coming to see a brother in every man is the end of a journey, it is something unnatural for man, it is something that is not given to us except with grace, exactly like loving the enemy. It is not for nothing that the scandals of sexual blackmail carried out by people are coming out in clusters “philanthropy” of NGOs. If you don't go and bring Christ you are not capable of loving. Man is not made like that, and whoever denies it is no better than me, he's just not Christian. Only with Him are we capable, “Without Me you can do nothing”.
DIO O JOHN LENNON?
They say there is a surge in racism among young people. I don't know if that's the case, I have little faith in the perception of newspapers. However, I think that the answer is not preaching about the fact that others are always and in any case a resource, the educational tirades at school to our children with accompanying songs, the liquid society and the denial of every identity: it's not enough, because identity belonging is written in every man, and the desire for a society that is orderly, that has safe rules, that offers opportunities for growth, to find a job, of building a family is simply normal, and healthy.
Only God, non John Lennon, can succeed in opening our hearts, to expand it to a larger motherhood or fatherhood. The Open Society recipe is a failure: all Soros' money won't change all the hearts in the world. Civic education lessons will not be needed, multicultural projects, the ethnic markets. Only Christ will be able to perform the miracle. But not by law, not imposing itself on an entire population, but saving and converting one heart at a time.
