The European Parliament has given the green light to the new and much discussed copyright directive. They voted in favor of the reform 348 MEPs, 274 they voted against while 36 they abstained.
The reform provides that all rights and obligations of copyright also apply online. One of the main objectives of the reform is for web giants to share their revenues with artists and journalists.
The text of the article specifies that the use of contents in free encyclopedias, come Wikipedia, or on open source software platforms, and also in a non-commercial way, will be automatically excluded from the scope of application of the directive.
