Uncertainty over Brexit has cost the UK economy 600 million pounds a week since a Brexit referendum in 2016; analysts at the investment bank Goldman Sachs calculated it.
According to Goldman Sachs, the long Brexit negotiations between London and Brussels, as well as difficulties in negotiating a draft agreement in the British parliament, have led to a slowdown in business investment.
“Risks due to uncertainty affected investment growth immediately after the Brexit vote, and these (risks) have increased recently due to growing uncertainty”, the experts said.
According to the bank's forecasts, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, determining the details of a “divorce”, Britain's GDP will lose the 5,5% in three years and the pound will depreciate by 17%. Upon conclusion of the transaction with the EU, the growth of the British economy will be 1.75% and the national currency will increase by 6%.
EU countries, in the event of a no-deal Brexit, they will also lose 1% of GDP, they believe at Goldman Sachs.
