Let us remember well that entry into the’ euro was the business card that the post-communist left had to show to the financial elite. We couldn't stay there but they wanted to let us in at all costs. L’ we have paid and are paying very dearly for it.
First problem: the euro is a foreign currency but the lira was also owned by private monopolists.
Second problem: the euro is one “colonial currency” like the lira because it cannot directly buy oil.
If Europe were sovereign not only would it have a public currency but it would have had people like Renzi and Macron as anti-Europeans.

It is private debt money that is the real problem, not so much there “foreign currency”.
At most, even a currency like the euro would be bearable but with debt Europeanised by Eurobonds, something the Germans don't want.
Or even, in an even lesser tone, everything the same as now but at least (for Italy) with some public banks that finance the local economy at symbolic rates.
In short, if before we were a bit ignorant’ Levantines and Gascons today we are masochistic shoushahs. If the yellow-green government is laboriously trying to balance the balance with the Quirinale and the European Union, we must not forget that the Germans and French are playing with loaded cards:
