Melanchthon's mother – the latter was one of the most famous disciples of the damned Luther – she had been dragged by her son into the alleged Lutheran Reformation. Reached the end of his days, he sent for the supposed reformer, and in that supreme moment he questioned him solemnly: «My son, recommended by you, I abandoned the Catholic Church to embrace the new religion. Ora, that I am about to appear at the Tribunal of God, tell me frankly in what faith I must die". Melanchthon lowered his head, after silence, and said: «My mother, Protestant doctrine is easier, but the Catholic one is safer".
