Of Luigi Bisignani
The Vatican turmoil in black and white (and the cardinals' desire for rebellion)
Dear director, once again it is a book that shakes the unadorned rooms of Santa Marta, where Pope Bergoglio has been staying for five years. It is a profound reflection on the Pontificate, not a scandalous book, which comes out on the fifth anniversary of the election of Pope Bergoglio and seems to gather the discontent of an increasingly disoriented curia and episcopate. To write it,not a reporter looking for scandals but a thoroughbred journalist, Mauro Mazza, for years at the top of Rai publications. “Bergoglio and prejudice” (Publisher Pages,210 pages) it was written on the original basis of articles and occasional notes, subsequently assembled or, more often, expanded and rewritten. A book written by a courageous Catholic that leaves the reader full of questions. In his merciless overview he touches on all the most controversial points of this five-year period, from divorced people to homosexuals, from openings in foreign policy, especially towards the Orthodox of Moscow, up to the anomalies of some centers of power,as Communion and Liberation. With the curiosity of a reporter and the vision of a historian, Mazza doesn't believe they can arrive, but it doesn't exclude either, possible resignation of the Pope. "It was profoundly different", writes Mazza,«the situation experienced with Benedict XVI. It was a sensational and unexpected resignation. Yet his renunciation, even with so few precedents in the two thousand year history of the Church, was considered realistic".
Actually, the resignation that Bergoglio himself had mentioned clashed with an indisputable fact: the good health enjoyed by the Pope Emeritus. If the coexistence of two Popes (which some important theologians see as an integral part of the same ministry: one praying, the other militant) it is already a surreal fact in itself, that of three Popes risks becoming tragic. The author underlines how Francis is accused of having created confusion in the doctrine and sacraments - with two synods of bishops and with an apostolic exhortation - regarding communion for divorced and remarried people. Likewise,he is attributed the responsibility of having caused serious disturbance with his rhetorical question «who am I to judge?» on the subject of homosexuality. But the accusation almost becomes a condemnation on the subject of migration, when it is remembered that «immigration which has become an invasion could erase the identity of the peoples of Europe and the once Christian civilization». Mazza spares him nothing and recalls how Francis is reproached for «not having been able to complete any of the announced reforms and for having committed a series of mistakes by entrusting great responsibilities to undeserving people, promptly proved to be inadequate, incompetent and, sometimes, corrupt. They also accuse Bergoglio of having entrusted massive doses of power, in the Vatican, to ambitious members of the curia, intolerant and vindictive who have established an unhealthy climate of fear". It certainly comes naturally to ask,at the end of reading, who may have been the authoritative voices that accompanied a high-ranking intellectual on his literary journey. «It may not be one hundred percent true but something must have happened, at the end of 2017, when the walls of the Santa Marta house seem to have vibrated for a few minutes during a heated face-to-face meeting between Francis and an authoritative cardinal who accused him of mistakes and wrong choices («We elected you to reform and not to destroy everything!»). Following the thread of the book it would even appear that a growing number of cardinals, already convinced Bergoglio voters, would he intend to question some decisions or even invoke the resignations he himself evoked in the first months of his pontificate, between hosannas and popular enthusiasm.
However, the designs of the Holy Spirit are inscrutable but in Santa Marta many will wonder who Mazza was confronted with.

The modernist cardinal's phrase is very interesting: «We elected you to reform and not to destroy everything!». Therefore, not only the moderates but also the most astute progressives have realized that Bergoglio wants to anticipate the times by skipping the “Overton windows” and therefore generating bewilderment and rejection in that part of the "una cum" people who have maintained a minimum of Catholic sense. In practice they are being told that, if the water heats up too quickly the frogs, instead of boiling calmly and blissfully as for example in the times of Woytjla, they jump out of the pot becoming somehow «not a cum» and therefore uncontrollable: this is demonstrated by those journalists and publicists who have been working for a while’ of time they started talking about “false pope” o di “not dad” (even those who recklessly want to return to Ratzinger, which, however moderate, it is theologically at the basis of the problem). This is some sort of sedevacantism, absolutely unthinkable even just a few years ago, and that Bergoglio with his exasperated progressivism “before the letter” helped make it possible and thinkable for the general public. It is therefore understandable how even his voters themselves consider him a scourge for their sect.
It must be said that when Bisignani catches these gems, it's strong. Even though there are many differences between us.
Ratzinger, however, throws water on the fire (and “Future”):
__________
«I applaud this initiative – writes Benedict XVI in reference to the series (“The Theology of Pope Francis”, published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana Editor's note:) – who wants to oppose and react to the foolish prejudice according to which Pope Francis is just a practical man without any particular theological or philosophical training, while I would have been solely a theorist of theology who would have understood little about the concrete life of a Christian today". «Small volumes – adds Benedict XVI – they rightly show that Pope Francis is a man of profound philosophical and theological training and therefore helps to see the internal continuity between the two pontificates, despite all the differences in style and temperament".
____________
The continuity between the two (in the modernist heresy) it's a fact, the difference (in the way of presenting the same heresy) Also.
Maybe, Maybe it's an attempt to limit the damage.
It must be said that we at Christus Rex have always spoken of perfect modernist doctrinal continuity on the part of all “conciliar popes” from Roncalli to today. But of different styles. At that time, for example, to exemplify we have: Roncalli the good-natured modernist, Montini the intellectual modernist, Luciani the rural modernist, Wojtyla the modernist clown, Ratzinger the conservative modernist, Bergoglio the progressive modernist.
