THE EAGLE – “Freemasonry is clean, made up of people with strong morals, so much so that Pope could be his ideal leader Francesco, by virtue of its message of the universality of the Creator 'urbi et orbi’ , unique and common for all living beings, above religions, which is also a key principle of Freemasonry”.
Word of Vincenzo Bonanno, Abruzzo Molise magistral delegate of the Scottish Rite Grand Lodge, well-known face from L'Aquila, as a historic English language teacher at a classical high school “Cotugno” and at the Faculty of Motor Sciences.
In the interview with Abruzzoweb, Bonanno is keen to dispel what for him are only prejudices around Freemasonry, consolidated after various scandals and judicial events that have marked recent Italian history, starting with those that concerned the P2 lodge of Licio Gelli.
“There are no preclusions for being admitted to Freemasonry – explains Bonanno first – there are people of all nationalities, culture, without class distinctions, sexual or political orientation. We do not accept atheists or agnostics, for a very simple reason. We believe there is a God, unique and common to all”.
There are two large Italian families, the Grand Orient of Italy reserved only for men and the Grand Lodge of the Scottish rite, which women can also access.
Bonanno has been affiliated with the Scottish Rite Grand Lodge for more than a decade 40 years, there are around one hundred members throughout the region, divided into provincial groups.
The great master is the lawyer Sergio Ciannella, who presides over the Supreme Council.
