IT IS DUELY PREMISED THAT THESE ARE REPRESENTATIVES OF “CONCILIAR CHURCH”
******
Medjugorje is a town in Bosnia-Herzegovina where, since June of 1981 until today, would have occurred 47 thousand Marian apparitions to six different visionaries. These facts, true or presumed, continue to arouse considerable controversy within the Catholic Church.
In recent days a communicated of the Vatican Press Office informed that Monsignor Henryk Hoser, Archbishop Emeritus of Warszawa-Prague (Poland), he was appointed by Pope Francis as Apostolic Visitor of a special nature for the parish of Medjugorje, for an indefinite period e at the behest of the Holy See (that is to say "at the disposal of the Holy See"). The Vatican decision, partly already anticipated a year ago by Daily Faith, has been interpreted in various ways.
By supporters of the veracity of the Marian apparitions it is seen as an action of pastoral closeness by the Holy Father to the devotees of the Madonna, venerated as Queen of Peace. In fact, for these faithful the gesture would represent the overcoming of the indifference towards Medjugorje on the part of the Pontiff himself, skepticism emerged several times in the past. Some have gone so far as to speak of a "commissionership" of the Diocese, always against apparitions.
According to the doubters, that is, those who believe only the first apparitions to be truthful, having granted the pastoral care of the local faithful and pilgrims who go in large numbers to Medjugorje (every year the figure is around approx 3 millions of visitors) it would only represent a further extension of the period of investigation that the Church continues to carry out to understand the phenomena more and more.
Even Greg Burke himself, spokesperson of the Holy See, he explained that the appointment of Monsignor Hoser does not represent an entry into the merits of "the authenticity of the apparitions, that is, it does not concern the doctrinal question", albeit the same Polish archbishop, from what emerges from numerous interviews released in recent years, he seems to believe in the veracity of the apparitions due to the positive spiritual fruits he has encountered.
The loudest voice among those against, no ifs or buts, to the alleged Medjugorjan apparitions, she got up, through the pages of website official of the Diocese, by the bishop of Mostar-Duvno (and apostolic administrator of Trebigne-Marcana) Monsignor Ratko Peric is sure that all the alleged apparitions on Bosnian soil are false.
Through a text, significantly published in Italian, entitled “The 'apparitions' of the first seven days in Medjugorje”, Bishop Peric, after having made a historical excursus on all the investigations conducted so far on the "Medjugorje phenomenon" (the first Mostar diocesan commission of the period 1982-1984, the enlarged Commission of 1984-1986, the Commission of the Episcopal Conference of Zagreb of 1987-1990, the Commission of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the Vatican of 2010-2014 and the evaluation of the Congregation itself of 2014-2016) he declares resolutely on behalf of his Curia: “These are not true apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary”.
The judgment of the seventy-four year old bishop (some see Hoser's appointment as a strategic wait by the Holy Father until Peric turns seventy-five, age established by the Code of Canon Law for submitting resignations from episcopal positions) it is extended to all “alleged” apparitions, even those of the first days.
The bishop, native of Tuk (village of Rovišće municipality, in Croatia) explains that his Curia, after having transcribed from the recorders the audio cassettes containing the conversations that took place in the first week inside the parish office of Medjugorje, dialogues between the pastoral staff and the boys and girls who had claimed to have seen the Madonna, reached the conclusion "whereby the non-authenticity of the alleged phenomena appears evident" and invites the use of "so-called" seer formulas, “alleged” messages, “claimed” visible sign and “so-called” secrets.
Monsignor Peric first of all takes it out on the "ambiguous" figure that appears and writes: “She behaves completely differently from the real Madonna, Mother of God, in the apparitions recognized so far as authentic by the Church: she usually doesn't speak first; laughs strangely; after certain questions he disappears and then returns again; she obeys the 'seers' and the parish priest who make her come down from the hill to church although reluctantly. He is not sure how long he will appear; allows some present to trample on her veil spread on the ground, to touch his dress and his body. This is not the evangelical Madonna".
After criticizing the "tremor" that one of the visionaries, Ivan Dragićević, would have perceived the first day of the apparition, the Croatian bishop lashes out against what he calls "the fake anniversary". The alleged apparitions began on 24 June 1981. However, “the directors” (This is how Peric defines them) of the "Medjugorje phenomenon" they decided that the anniversary would not be celebrated on 24 but the 25 June. The reason for the choice is that the 25 June 1981 all six visionaries chosen from among those who boasted in those days of having "apparitions" would have been together at the apparition. Ma, writes the bishop, “to deny this version of events, Formulated by Vicka Ivanković, it is Ivan Dragićević himself who testifies: 'The first evening I was with them, I wasn't there the second time. Among the six regular 'seers', oltre a Marija Pavlović, Jakov Čolo also attended the 'apparition' for the first time on the second day. So", accuses the bishop, “The anniversary date is arbitrary, inaccurate, falsified".
Monsignor Peric then recalls all the details that speak against the apparitions: the figure of the child wrapped in clothes, in the arms of a woman, seen by some visionaries, denied by others; the "sign" of the turning of the hands of Mirjana's clock (defined by the prelate as “more than ridiculous, strange"); the regular smile and the disappearance of the figure that appeared following the request for a sign visible to all; the disagreements between the "seers" on the color of the clothes of the figure who appeared; the signs of a state of nervousness and tension consisting in the three "visionaries" "fainting" and falling to the ground on the third day (26 June 1981); the scandalous touching of the veil and parts of the body of the figure who appeared (which the bishop defines as "a very unusual and serious thing", “something unworthy, inauthentic and scandalous”); the intentional manipulations so that the figure "came down from the hill into the church", which has been happening since July 1st 1981; the inexplicable initial silence of the appearance in the first seven days, when he took no initiative, she never started speaking first. And he answered the questions of the "seers" in a generic way.
The bishop also highlights some strange messages. In the first days, based on the stenograms, “The appearance is not justified, no specific message is released nor for the 'seers', nor for the brothers, beyond the invitation to believe in the apparition, nor for the faithful of the parish, nor for the world".
Monsignor Peric also focuses on "false prophecies". Remember Ivanka's question about how much longer she will appear, the figure replied: “As long as you want, as long as you wish" (Steno 13 – colloquio padre Jozo Zovko – Ivanka Ivanković, Tuesday morning, 30 June 1981). Then the peremptory declaration of the figure, in an "apparition" that occurred not in Medjugorje but in nearby Cerno, Tuesday afternoon 30 June 1981: only “three days” will still appear: il 1, 2 e 3 July 1981. Then the apparition changed her mind and still "appears" today, and 37 years continuously, everyday, to three "visionaries" (This is how Peric defines them) of the group: Ivan, Marija, Vick, and to the other three once a year: and Mirjana gave 1982, ad Ivanka dal 1985 e a Jakov dal 1998. Furthermore, to two people the figure "appears" once a month from 1987 with “messages” for the world: to Mirjana the 2 and to Marija the 25 of each month.
The bishop recalls a statement from his predecessor, Pavao Žanić, il 25 July 1987, following the work of a commission on the “Medjugorje phenomenon” in Mostar, he underlined that in Medjugorje there are no supernatural phenomena and revelations. The commission work was then carried out in Zagreb, the Episcopal Conference of the time declared in Zara, il 10 April 1991, that based on the investigations conducted up to then it was not possible to affirm that these were supernatural apparitions or revelations.
“Taking into account everything that has been examined and studied by this diocesan Curia, including the study of the first seven days of the alleged apparitions", concluded Monsignor Ratko Peric, “it can be safely stated: Our Lady did not appear in Medjugorje!”.
Now the "hot potato" has been thrown back to the Vatican which, of the rest, he has not yet made an official statement. The Holy See, could decide to "separate" Medjugorje from the diocese of Mostar or wait those few months until Bishop Ratko Peric presents his resignation due to reaching the age limit.
