Anna Bono: “Impossible to integrate immigrants, there is no work”
Of Paolo Bracalini
«I would leave the debate on the existence of races to the academy, ethnic substitution is certainly not the problem, but the coexistence of communities with different cultures and traditions.
It would be useful, to understand, reread some texts that have long been set aside as politically incorrect, because they demonstrate the cultural superiority of the West, of civilization, non-racial". For Anna Bono, former researcher in African history and institutions at the University of Turin, author of the counter-current essay Migrants!? (Sign Editions), between Europe and the Third World (the "cesspool countries" that the rude Trump talks about) exporter of immigrants, there is an abyss. «It is the abyss between Western Christian civilization and the rest of the world, not just Africa – explains Bono -. Human rights, universal and inalienable, personal freedoms, the value of every life, this is the Western tradition. On the other hand, however, there is a tradition of rights linked to statuses, in turn determined mainly by factors such as sex and age at birth, therefore a tradition of discrimination and limitations of personal freedoms: tribalism in Africa, castes in India, inferiority and exploitation of women and children everywhere".
On mass migration to Europe, and in particular towards Italy, Bono has little hope of integration. «Not in this phase of European history, much less Italian. Those who find work integrate, regular, this is the necessary first step. Italy does not have a future for hundreds of thousands of young foreigners, we all know it. Youth unemployment in Italy has reached and exceeded 40% last year. Every year tens of thousands of young Italians emigrate. Fall back on black jobs, irregular, illegal activity, continue to depend entirely or partially on public and private assistance: it is the fate of most of the young African and Asian people who land in Italy. Furthermore, Europe is going through a crisis which, to simplify, I would define as one of identity. It is not in the best situation to assimilate large groups of people with different values and institutions, partly irreconcilable".
a problem, more than racial, economic: «In Italy the arrival of over half a million irregular immigrants has led to the creation for them of a largely public welfare system which weighs billions of euros on the national budget. It is a difficult situation to sustain and increasingly difficult for Italian citizens to accept".
