In America a new alarm is triggered on the Russia and on his nuclear threat. This time it's about of Moscow's submarine fleet which, according to the sites that interpreted the draft of the Nuclear Post Review published by the Pentagon and obtained first byHuffington Post, would have achieved an even greater level of danger to the security of other states. “In addition to modernizing “legacy” Soviet nuclear systems, Russia is developing and deploying new nuclear warheads and launchers. These efforts include numerous upgrades for each branch of the Russian nuclear triad of strategic bombers, land-based missiles and land-based missiles. Russia is also developing at least two new intercontinental transmission systems, a hypersonic glide vehicle and a new autonomous intercontinental torpedo with nuclear weapons”. It's one bulb, as recalled by Franco Iacch for The newspaper. And so, like all the drafts, could easily be edited and the content relating to Russia could be removed. But what if that wasn't the case, At that time the Pentagon would have certified the existence of Ocean Multipurpose System Status-6, which the US military code calls “Kanyon”, and would certify the achievement, from Moscow, of a further standard of expansion of its atomic arsenal and its ballistic capabilities. The United States is concerned about Russia's continued development of "increasingly diverse and expanding nuclear capabilities", e, as explained by Defense News, with “Moscow's perception that it might conduct a nuclear attack as a way to 'de-escalate' a conflict on terms favorable to Russia”.
The importance of the draft leaked in recent days by the Pentagon is both in the new American policy on nuclear weapons and in this renewed latent tension that exists between United States and Eurasian powers such as China e Russia. There has been talk of Trump's opening towards a renewed atomic arsenal with a sort of "liberalisation" of the warheads. But in reality, the real interest of this draft is twofold. On the one hand, in the fact that, almost thirty years later, the Cold War not only still exists, but it has also expanded including the Chinese giant. From a bipolar world to a tripolar one, as already defined by the National Security Strategy, sees the United States of America explicitly addressing China and Russia as direct adversaries of American geopolitics. The announcement of the potential Russian nuclear threat must be read in the difficult phase that the United States is experiencing, in which their necessary acceptance of the growth of Russian and Chinese military and political capacity is evident to the detriment of the twenty-year American period in which, for a short but important period of time, a unipolar model had almost been achieved at an international level. Con la National Security Strategy e con la Nuclear Post Review, the United States certifies the end of its dominance and renews the need for greater development of its nuclear capabilities and ballistics to counter the high level of risk achieved thanks to the development of the Russian and Chinese arsenals.
A second interesting fact is that the Pentagon, at least according to the draft - which may be modified in some parts but not completely revolutionized - confirms a tendency of the new US administration ofliberalization of the concept of the use of nuclear weapons That, until a few years ago, it was considered almost a sort of taboo. Since the escalation in North Korea, the United States has always spoken, more or less tacitly, the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons. The concept is now considered obsolete, since the nuclear weapon, as a tool, it is to all intents and purposes a strategic rather than tactical factor. Nobody dreams of using atomic weapons, but they all threaten its use and development. However, use the nuclear threat more and more easily and shamelessly, makes us reflect on the increasing level of risk in the world. Nuclear weapon is a guarantee, North Korea teaches us this and the countries that didn't have it and that suffered a war teach us this. But a new race for the atomic arsenal is underway and this, inevitably, leads to a stalemate in the long run. Or risks, as in the case of those countries that have not signed an agreement on non-proliferation.
