Venezia: Desecration of San Salvador Church

We have received the following letter with a request for publication which seems to us to have interesting content for the topics covered by this site

I intend to report, as already done at the Patriarchate, the outrageous and profanatory use of the parish church of San Salvador, desecration carried out with the clear permission of the parish administrator Don Massimiliano D'Antiga who improperly assumes the title of Parish Priest among the faithful, which it is not.

From the attached image it is clear how the church was used for an execrable and illicit activity to desecrate the place of worship., protected by the Superintendency, with rites, music, scenography and vestments that recall satanic rites, with masked figures and half-naked women.

The desecration occurred in a very serious form also due to the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and the insult to the main altar itself
which was desecrated and covered with a gloomy black cloth with mysterious symbols. See the attached photo among the least shocking in order not to further disturb the sensitivity of the faithful and readers.

Likewise it was hidden, perhaps in an attempt not to have the church recognised, the prestigious work of Titian the “Transfiguration of Christ”:
the evident lack of responsibility also for artistic and monumental protection is evident.

In recent months, two serious episodes of attacks have also occurred within the Church involving family members of D'Antiga and custodial staff of the Church.. For such execrable facts, a seguito di denunce, two processes have already been established by the judicial authority and are underway.

As a parishioner of San Salvador and San Zulian I ask the Patriarchate how much longer the "family" management of two churches by a priest and his family must last, already at the center of numerous and execrable facts and circumstances that have been perpetuated for decades.
See for example the posting of dozens of signs on the walls of Venice with very serious sentences against D'Antiga, circumstances which also caused wicked and deplorable actions on the part of the priest's family and reported in the press.

The writer believes that any new desecrating action of the place of worship can no longer be tolerated, lucrative uses of the same and of the parish environments, nor violation of constitutional rights.

I invite H.E. Patriarch Moraglia to exercise the government action due to him and to act for the good of the Church, intervening in the ways it deems most appropriate, so that the sacredness of the Church of San Salvador is guaranteed and the rights of the faithful and visitors are safeguarded.

The Patriarch's action of command and authority cannot be undermined by behavior, words and actions of the presbyter cited therein and only administrator, not a parish priest, of the two churches.

However, the situation remains unusual and certainly surprising for priestly activity itself and given the known shortage of priests, of why D'Antiga has not yet been appointed parish priest in over twenty years of priestly ministry.

Best regards.

  • Frightening ! Yet another shameful post-conciliar drift where churches can be the object of any desecration. We await the vibrant and austere protest (verbal,at least) of the patriarch of Venice, Sbrodaglia …
