What are demonstrations for?, the deafening campaigns, the painted faces and the world days against violence suffered by women? Judging by the results they are of no use. For years there has been a crescendo of feminist mobilization, of extraordinary media attention, of special laws against sexist sexism and violence against women, there is even the aggravating circumstance of feminicide compared to a “simple” assassination. And for years the crimes committed against women have not decreased, in fact they seem to be worsening. Some will say that today violence against women is reported while yesterday it was not, and for this reason they seem to be growing. But the discussion collapses if we refer to the murderers of women, which were obviously recorded yesterday as today and have certainly not decreased over the years, On the contrary. The uncertainty and fragility of the male role, autonomy and female emancipation, they trigger crazy reactions in the weakest minds, usually homicidal but also suicidal, which in a "male chauvinist" society were less frequent.
But the initial question still stands: What good are demonstrations against violence if they produce no practical effect, no prevention, they do not stem the violence, they don't change anything? And what will be the purpose of the tightening planned today in the Council of Ministers with the so-called red code, given the disappointing results so far of aggravated sentences if women are the victims of violence (why not protect the elderly and children)?
This seems to me to be the only serious answer: they serve to mobilize women, to keep feminism alive 2.0 and to make their protest global and connected to the other recurring themes in the Public Story: racism, homophobia, xenophobia. Violence against women closes the equation.
Two factors confirm the ideological and political use of the revolt. The first. No feminist street mobilization is triggered if immigrants are practicing violence against women, because the diagram above skips. Thus on other levels there is silence about wombs rented for the sale of children, a more mortifying abuse than prostitution, but the beneficiaries are mainly homosexual couples and therefore compromise the aforementioned scheme.
Then, the use of data on violence against women is distorted and instrumental: is underlined, for example, that violence against women has reached peaks in Brazil, suggesting that there is a connection between this data and the rise to power of the "sexist" Bolsonaro. In reality in Brazil the numbers of violence are impressive and do not only concern women but the entire population; and it was precisely on the war on crime that Bolsonaro won against socialist governments incapable of guaranteeing security.
About this, returning to our home, it is curious to note that so much mobilization against violence against women is then accompanied by protests against the Salvini's security decree which aims precisely to guarantee greater protection to citizens against common delinquency. Drastic measures against those who use violence become repressive and fascist in the eyes of the demonstrators. And proposals for chemical castration for rapists are rejected with horror (bloody expression but in reality the sexual impulses of violent people are chemically neutralized). All this mobilization in the name of violated women captures the sensitivity of many women in good faith, but it is used and manipulated for political and ideological purposes, to create a global movement, gender and radical. It doesn't help stop the violence, over which he is powerless, but to mobilize women, migrants and students against the Sexist and Racist Enemy, Fascist and Homophobic, which in Italy has the face of Salvini.
