In Europe, liberals and ecologists are advancing, but in Italy…
Bad surprise in the Italian polls for the radical world, secularist and ecologist. The European elections in other countries saw a discreet success of the liberal and environmentalist parties, a turning point that also boded well for the rooms of our house. But it didn't happen that way.
Bonino, with his list”+Europe Italy in common", remains firm 3,1%. Too few votes to hope to overcome the threshold to enter Strasbourg. Thus the ambitions of the historic radical leader to be the liberal candidate for the presidency of the EU Commission fade away..
Nothing to do even for ecologists. The list “Green Europe” does not receive the traction of the other environmentally friendly parties which have done quite well in Europe. There was no push from activists close to Greta Thunberg, only a handful of votes to get to the 2,3% (here too, too few for the barrier).
But the real blow came to the list "La Sinistera”. Born a few weeks after the vote as a federation between the Communist Refoundation and the Italian Left, the party has done worse than any previous party in the same area in history: just 1.8%.
