We have already previously discussed the fervor of Italian Caritas regarding the reception of migrants in Italy. Commitment that has materialized in a specific section, named Caritas InMigration. The religious association has once again become a protagonist because, at the invitation of Italian Episcopal Conference, has made itself available to welcome the "seized" migrants disembarked from the ship Eighteen of the Coast Guard. A wonderful opportunity to internationally promote i Christian values witnessed by the current Vatican Curia.

The discussion is interspersed with “the church is committed”, activities in which Caritas and CEI worked to defend NGOs and support irregular immigration (which we have already covered in the previous investigation): “The defamation campaign against NGOs that they carried forward, after the closure of the Mare Nostrum programme, search and rescue activities in the central Mediterranean, it has overwhelmed all organizations carrying out solidarity initiatives and the protection of human rights. Human life is above all other issues. This is why the Italian Church wanted to concretely support search and rescue activities to prevent the deaths of thousands of men, women and girls who continue to leave Libya. To stand alongside those who save human lives, of those who carry out solidarity activities, of those who fight to affirm human rights for all, Caritas Italiana started the project Warm Up which sees the distribution of thousands of KITS (containing clothing to be distributed during rescue operations) to the Navy, to NGOs and the Coast Guard”.
Not just support for NGOs and irregular and other-directed immigration: Caritas and CEI also supported a real political campaign “I'm Italy too”, organized by the Sorosian associations led by the Italian Radicals, for the approval of the law on right alone in Italy: “In this context they gave their contribution to the "I'm Italy too" campaign, especially on the promotional front, with a view to raising awareness of the diocesan and parish communities. It is essential for Caritas and Migrantes to encourage discussion and debate on such an important topic, to help understand that immigration does not aggravate Italy's current problems, but it can be a further contribution to their solution”.
For Caritas there is no hospitality business in Italy but "it is a system that in many depressed areas of our country,especially in the south, allows you to revitalize the local economy guaranteeing work to accommodation facilities that were at risk of closing and employing many young people who otherwise would have had to choose the path of emigration. Therefore it is undeniable that the increase in public spending for the reception of migrants falls on Italian territory, financing Italian workers and businesses”. It's a shame that theinduced generated has not at all reached i 5 billions spent annually by Italy on reception costs and that i proceeds remained in the pockets of the various red and white coops.
