The press conference, it took place in the Sala degli Arazzi of the Municipality of Verona and was also an opportunity for the Mayor to reiterate his commitment to families: «Congress expresses the values in which this Administration, and me personally, we believe», Sboarina continued, «e as mayor, I have kept delegation to the family among my responsibilities in order to guarantee it the centrality it deserves in every measure we take. Plus, turn on the spotlight about the family, it also means focusing attention on the preciousness and uniqueness of life. Therefore Verona, after hosting, last year, the Festival of Life is proud to open the doors to this three days of projects and initiatives». Finally, the mayor thanked «how many worked to bring this international event to Verona» e «all those who are working for your organization».
Toni Brandi, president of the World Congress of Families, regarding the fake news that has spread in recent weeks about the event he declared: «I feel sorry for those who try to transform this meeting of world leaders, leading institutional figures and numerous experts who talk about the value and beauty of families and the obstacles to overcome at an economic and social level, in a meeting “AGAINST” when it is a meeting “FOR” the parents and their children». «We will talk about rights, health and dignity of all women, who work or who have freely decided to be mothers, and children's rights and health», added the president of the World Congress.
The aims of the Congress were illustrated by vice president of Wcf Verona Jacopo Coghe: «Our goal is to raise awareness among politicians and institutions, so that they make concrete commitments», Coghe said. «Without the family, the whole society loses its foundations, for this reason it is necessary to encourage it both from a cultural and educational point of view, both through economic aid and tax breaks: these two components are both indispensable. Two months before the European elections, this message is for all the candidates who will take the field. We will monitor the contents of their electoral campaigns and will not compromise on the values they will carry forward».
«This Congress wants to recognize the family as the only true antidote to contemporary liquid society. Politics is called to support it without claiming to replace it», he instead underlined Alberto Zelger.
From your side councilor Donazzan he declared: «A society is stable and serene if made up of stable and serene families. The bonds of affection, of tradition, of transmission of life and values are the only glue for this society so subjected to lacerations and conflicts. This is why the defense of the family must be the priority for any force, not just politics, that has society at heart. I see in the school, like at work», continued Donazzan, «divided families, single children, grandparents excluded from family life: they are often among the causes of school failure or failure in the workplace. Mine is an appeal to always put the family at the center of every policy».
«We want this Congress to show the beauty and naturalness of the family», he then underlined Massimo Gandolfini, «lhe fruitful union between man and woman remains the founding nucleus of every human society, this is why we want the family to be helped and defended both in cultural and economic terms. The indicators on the development and well-being of populations reward those countries that have been able to undertake pro-family and pro-life policies, for this reason experts and activists from all over the world will come to Verona to bring a contribution of reflection on the best practices inspired by the principles that protect the integrity of human person».
