In the 2013 Guido Barilla, president of the company of the same name, in a radio broadcast he declared that the positioning of Barilla products was not compatible with possible commercials featuring homosexual people and pseudo-families. He was pilloried. Since then the process of Maoist re-education of the company's LGBT beliefs has seen no setbacks.
A recent note from the company explains that there are many initiatives "implemented by Barilla to combat homophobia and intolerance in the workplace to prevent and raise awareness among people on the issue of diversity and inclusion, which has long been particularly dear to the company. The Barilla Group is committed to promoting and maintaining diversity at all levels of the company. Being a family-run business this is a fundamental part of the company's DNA. This includes ensuring that the item, the perspective and individuality of each employee, partners and customers are respected. As evidence of the concrete commitments Barilla has obtained in 2017, for the fourth consecutive year, the score of 100% nel ‘Corporate Equality Index’, a system of comparison on company activities aimed at lesbian employees, gay, bisexuals and transsexuals developed by the Human Rights Campaign" which is the most influential agency for the diffusion of LGBT thought in the world.
And then it adds: “Further proof of Barilla's commitment to LGBTI communities around the world, the company created a committee called Voice in Five Nations (Usa, Brazil, France, Italy, Türkiye) to discuss LGBTI issues. In the 2017 Claudio Colzani, CEO of the Barilla Group, he joined others 270 CEO to sign the CEO Action for D&I pledge by committing to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace”.
Christian Anderson, Chief Diversity Officer of Barilla, he also stated that “at Barilla we are more committed than ever to making the company a place open to inclusion and diversity, that offers the same opportunities for us workers and considers individual differences as a strength, the contribution that each of us can make to our way of doing business 'Good for you, Good for the Planet”.
As if that weren't enough, Barilla will be the first Italian company to adhere to the Standards of Conduct for Business of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Oh chr) which formally aim to combat discrimination in the workplace for LGBT people, but essentially instead they are a weapon against freedom of thought and religion. They are part of this initiative already 51 companies in the world of the caliber of Google, Ikea, Microsoft and Vodafone. The membership was announced yesterday, Friday 26 January, even in Davos, al World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, during the 'Free and Equal' Forum in which the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights participated, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
Adherence to similar protocols proposed by important international agencies it is not actually just motivated by the fear of losing customers or by the concern to offer an image of the company that is inclusive and in step with the times, rather it appears more and more like the necessary entry into a kind of brotherhood or sect whose spectrum of action is global - see the announcement of Barilla's adhesion to the Standards given in Davos - and which wants to spread a certain anthropological mainstream. In short, it is not just a matter of private business, but the fact that these initiatives are even promoted by the UN makes us understand that there is something much bigger behind them than fighting alleged discrimination. The real objective is to force large companies that influence people's behavior - all large brands are life stylers whether they like it or not - to make a blood pact between themselves and international organizations to guide consciences. Blackmail relies on a simple principle: if you are not in the club of the powerful, we will tarnish your image as happened to Barilla. From this perspective, discrimination against homosexual people appears to be just a mere pretext. (Tommaso Scandroglio)
