Fiumicino, remove the crucifixes from the school so as not to upset the Muslims

According to the local press, the episode happened in an elementary school in Fiumicino. Salvini's anger: “Crazy stuff! I hope it's not true”

“Crazy stuff! I hope it's not true… How many episodes will we have between now and Christmas? I raise: #vivailnatale, Hands off our thousand-year history”. Thus the deputy prime minister and interior minister wrote on Twitter Matteo Salvini, by posting the link to the local online newspaper “The Lighthouse” which collects the complaint of the Northern League senator from Fiumicino William De Vecchis.
Which he told: “Last 8 November in a meeting within the school, some parents noticed that the crucifixes had disappeared from some classes, symbols of Christianity and our culture. To requests for clarification, the answer was that the elimination of the crucifix had been decided so as not to embarrass the Muslim children present in the institute. A choice I don't agree with, than to protect the needs of some, it mortifies the feelings of many”.
De Vecchis then added: “Even in a secular conception, no one has ever questioned the value of the crucifix, while maintaining each family its own line and its own creed. Now though, for a distorted way of understanding hospitality, they abdicate values, popular practices and feelings of Italians to wink at other cultures. This is not the meaning of hospitality and cultural exchange. I will donate the crucifixes to the school with great pleasure”.

Second Ilfaroonline.it, the episode apparently occurred at the Rodano elementary school in Fiumicino. Mayor Esterino Montino also intervened on the matter, writing on Facebook: “I learn from press sources that there is an ongoing controversy because the crucifixes were removed from some classrooms of the Rodano school. We don't know if the story is true. We interviewed the principal of the school who was totally unaware of the facts reported by Senator De Vecchis. We are looking into it to get to the bottom of it. I hope that no one has taken initiatives of this nature independently and without discussing it with the head teacher. I remember that, as it is a primary school, the Municipality also has its responsibilities. No one can claim the right to make decisions, especially on topics of this kind, without the agreement of those who have teaching responsibility on one side and administrative responsibility on the other”.
