France and Germany against the Italian maneuver

Of
The attacks and criticisms of the maneuver of yellow-green government ormai sono all’ordine del giorno.
Ieri ci hanno pensato Bce, Bundesbank, Ue, Austria and Holland. Oggi è la volta della Germania e della Francia.
“I regret that Italy did not accept the hand extended by the European Commission. La Commissione europea aveva detto ‘discutiamo, let's talk, proviamo a migliorare questo bilancio’, e l’Italia ha rifiutato questo dialogo”, declared the French Economy Minister, Bruno Le Maire invitando l’Italia a “demonstrate responsibility” e “lucidity” on this dossier. The Mayor, speaking on the show 'Les 4 truths’ in France 2, he said that “now it is up to the European Commission to make its decision”.

And again: “European rules are not rules imposed by Bruxelles, They are everyone's rules, who protect us, which strengthen our eurozone and which we have all freely chosen, when we all respect them, they strengthen us all, ahead of China, ahead of the United States. When everyone does what they want, this weakens everyone”. Then the French minister concluded: “The eurozone today would not be able to deal with a new large financial crisis or economic crisis in good conditions. So the future, the years to come, the next few months, must be dedicated to strengthening the eurozone”.
Criticism of the Italian government also came from Germany. It was Markus Ferber who expressed it, German MEP of the CSU and member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. That, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, he declared: “I am very disappointed by the Italian response, no politician can go against the market because the spread will rise”. Ferber then warned that if the government does not give in to the EU “the infringement procedure will be triggered”. E “if he didn't, Brussels would lose credibility”.
But that's not all. For Feber in the draft of the Italian maneuver “there are technical errors and wrong assumptions about growth rates, which deviate from the estimates of all international institutions; on tax revenue; on the number of unemployed. The planned social reforms only produce new spending, they will not create new jobs. The government must be aware that its decisions also have consequences on the other states of the Union. Rome cannot ignore its commitments to its European partners. We are monitoring the spread between BTPs and Bunds, the yield on Italian government bonds is the highest in the eurozone, Greece apart. The matter is serious”.
