On the agenda of the American president, first world leader hosted since Naruhito ascended the throne, banquet with the emperor, sumo tournament, inspection of a helicopter carrier, a few holes of golf with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Or better, Abe Shinzo.
It was the Foreign Minister of Tokyo who asked the international press to adapt to Japanese custom: «Our prime minister is called Abe Shinzo, non Shinzo Abe. First the surname and then the name, as we do". The request formulated by the head of Japanese diplomacy contains a claim of equal cultural dignity with China and South Korea
