But we must underline how Guido had the courage, and first, to shed light, in court and through a criminal investigation, about the death of the Duce. A murder still shrouded in mystery. Certainly the first unsolved mystery of the Italian Republic, and because many protagonists of the so-called First Republic will benefit from his death. So it's fair to ask, also out of historical duty, who were the traitors and the great imperialist powers responsible for that murder. And whether they are not the same ones who handed over to those who today combine political and economic power. The new republican and democratic Italy was certainly born with the stain of a mystery, the death of the Duce. Thanks to Guido for the first time, and not in a mere literary treatment, an attempt was made to shed light on the deaths of the Duce and Mrs. Petacci: both were killed by unknown persons. The partisan and resistance tradition sees Colonel Valerio as the executor and creator of the murder, tradition now canceled because it has been disproved by the many tests, even if as a pseudo truth it has influenced entire generations of students in a false way."

«A few days before being killed Benito Mussolini was in negotiations for a transfer of power: as little traumatic and bloodless as possible. Among the people chosen by him for this purpose, Carlo Silvestri was there, a socialist who was his admirer and friend. Mussolini left this last wish to Silvestri: “From Valtellina I will hand myself over to an Italian court: only this has the right to judge me. But you must assure me that I will be allowed to speak, because the Italian people must know the reason for this war. Then I will be punished if I am found guilty. I do not intend to hand myself over to the Anglo-Saxon courts: I would be prevented from speaking, to tell the truth that burns them."
So, the Duce had been promised a fair trial, above all he was guaranteed physical safety in exchange for the transfer of power?
«The investigation must focus on these steps, and because only a foreign power that won the war could have guaranteed safety in exchange for the somewhat painless passage. Every civilized country has the duty to guarantee a fair trial. Mussolini was never subjected to any trial. Of course the accused is dead, but an act of justice wants, even if it's late, a due process."
