Sodalitium calendar 2019: 50 years of resistance to the new mass
Catholics, Sunday 30 November 1969 it is a day of mourning for every Catholic faithful to the traditions that have made the Church great and glorious, giving it the splendor of spiritual and cultural treasures that remain, despite time and men, immortal monuments. Almost like the epilogue of a series of certainly harmful upheavals, now it's time to touch it, the very crystalline purity of the Holy Mass changes and becomes polluted (…).
Catholics, know how to keep your Faith and the Doctrine handed down by the Fathers intact, only guarantee in this uncertain time, crepuscular and equivocal, attending only doctrinally safe priests and attending exclusively Holy Masses celebrated according to the ancient Missal of Saint Pius V".
This is how a flyer began and ended, that I have before my eyes, distributed in Rome fifty years ago - on the occasion of the introduction of the new ecumenical missal - by a group of Catholics who - not without a sense of humor - signed themselves with the name "Gaudium et spes".
A few days before that fateful date, il 1 October, Padre Guérard of the Laurels, Dominican, then professor at the Pontifical Lateran University, wrote Dom Gérard, alluding to the “Brief Critical Examination of the Novus Ordo Missæ”: “The 'new mass' - which is no longer the Mass - remains for me - and for others - a violent scandal. We are about to act, completing the action already started six months ago. Humanly, I think it's useless, but I do it at the same time out of love and out of duty. We cannot fail to do everything possible to prevent such a great evil (…) The denial of sacrifice must put us in a state of sacrifice".
Luther and Calvin had succeeded in suppressing the Sacrifice of the Mass and destroying the altars, throughout much of Christianity. A Gorcum, get in there, 19 Catholic religious men were hanged by Calvinists in the barn of a ruined monastery because they refused to renounce the Catholic faith in the primacy of the Pope, in the real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and in the Sacrifice of the Mass; one of them was so old and shabby that it was pitiful, but the executioners said he still had enough head to say Mass, and this was enough for him to suffer the fate of the others. But the Mass that was no longer celebrated in many parts of Europe, was offered again, and with how much love, in many others, and even to the distant lands of the New World: in every place a pure oblation will be offered to my name (cf Malachi 1, 11).
The modernists managed to do what the Protestants could not, their fathers in heresy, extinguishing the Faith, the Sacrifice, the Priesthood, and the divine Eucharistic Presence almost everywhere; and others 50 years after the imposition of the 'new mass', programmatically ecumenical rite, the effects can be seen in many empty and desolate churches, put up for sale or demolished.
However, God has not abandoned us. Who didn't live through those times, perhaps he doesn't realize what happened, and it still must be, the love of many Catholics for the Mass at the very moment in which they were deprived of it. The reaction to the 'new missal' arose spontaneously throughout the world, a truly Catholic or universal phenomenon; our calendar favors those who defended the Roman Mass in Italy and France, but everywhere priests and faithful stood up willing to make any sacrifice so that the Mass could continue. Let us not forget those priests who were willing to give up their parish, those families who traveled hundreds and hundreds of kilometers every Sunday to have Mass, those who had to transform a profane place into a church every Sunday to allow the celebration of Mass, and then put everything back as before, sometimes without knowing on Saturday if there would be a priest the next day, those who opened their homes to priests and faithful for the celebration of the Sacrifice. Even today, Often, it's still like that, for those who don't want it, because he can't, nominate to the canon of the Mass the name of the one who occupies the See of Peter without being his true Successor. But later 50 years we can say that no, this time too, the devil was unable to completely stop what he fears most: the celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass, bloodless renewal of that of Calvary.
Today as then, and day after day, we must be in a 'state of sacrifice', united with the Sacrifice of Christ: so that God may be offered that supreme act of adoration that is due to him, and for the too many sins of men to be atoned for, and God be favorable to us again, and answer our prayers. The homage of the Sodalitium calendar goes to all those priests and faithful, those we remembered and those we forgot, That 50 years ago they fought for the Roman Mass: ours, Now, to continue and complete their battle, without ever getting tired.

All true, everything right! How sad to see churches where the faithful go, on Sunday, without asking whether it is a correct mass or a parody. Nothing matters; what matters is carrying out the Sunday ritual however it is carried out, as long as it's under the house.
