L'antifascismo dei cretini

FIFTH COLUMN
Of Marcello Veneziani
We have always had patience with idiots who are not evil and with evil but intelligent ones. However, we can't have it with bad idiots, maybe originally just idiots who then turned bad or just bad people then turned stupid. But they grew out of all proportion and got worse. I'm talking about the new anti-fascism, autumn-winter collection, that feeds on fascistometers to measure the degree of fascism that is in each of us and instructions for (non) become fascists, of fake Anpi that wave anti-fascism also the 4 November, no longer made up of partisans but of militants of perennial hatred; and then of mobilizations, demonstrations and mischief, conveyed by newspapers, newscasts, talk shows and many institutional stickers. Like that Cool guy who alternates declarations of anti-fascism with surreal declarations of love regarding the rapes and massacres of drug-migrants. For him, violence is fought with love, as the most unlucky flower children said half a century ago. He's getting there now, fifty years later and about something as terrible as the fatal rape of a little girl.
We tolerated the old anti-fascism fogey, trombone, a bit of manner. We were even able to tolerate a resulting anti-fascism, violent, intolerant, extremist. As long as it concerns the agitated lunatics of the social centers, of some feminist in ideological heat or with fasciophobic hotties, or of scattered idiots of grillism and old leftism, we got over it. But it's disheartening when you see intellectuals too, directors, publishers, journalists, publications that had some intellectual or at least professional credibility, that you read and respected, have an idiotic regression in hatred towards an alleged and reborn neo-fascism (which is actually reborn every week from 73 years, based on their rheumatic pains, their indicators and informers). To avoid being vague, I'm referring to signatures, philosophy, journalists, writers who ply their trade on la Repubblica, the Espresso, their paraguru genus Saviano, not to mention on talk shows and Rai news, mediaset (just a little less), the 7 e sky. Probably a willing combination went to their heads: the inglorious failure of the left on all wheels, Salvini's popular advance, triumph throughout the world and not with coups d'état but with votes, of leaders and movements opposed to the left. And then the sermons, the censorships and opinion-cidal laws of Sister Boldrina and Brother Fiano, just to mention two clergy precursors of this anti-fascism. But these sufferers of the Anti-Fascism disease must have reached such an advanced pathological state, if even the Corriere della sera, he recently rebelled against the idiotic drift of anti-fascism with a balanced editorial by Paolo Mieli, a sparkling italics by Gramellini, an incisive thrust of Panebianco, and writings by Battisti, of Tarquini. Then, laws Paolo Giordano on the front page of the Corriere which takes Mussolini's calendars seriously (it is the foolishness of prime numbers), laws Aldo Grasso which denies the pages of social history of fascism, labor cards and guarantees for pensioners and women, read Di Cesare's philosophical inquisition, more various arguments about anti-racism and anti-fascism and you realize that the Corriere competes with the Republic on the same ground. Pathological anti-fascism is at an acute stage if the 4 November Furio Colombo sul Fatto misses the anniversary and dedicates its fund to the apology of 25 April. Or if a journalist from La Repubblica, Maurizio Crosetti, blinded by raging dementia, hopes for Salvini's massacre in Piazzale Loreto. But dementia also has retroactive value in past centuries. I have just returned from the embarrassing reading of a book dedicated to Dante by a certain Chiara Mercuri, published by Laterza, in which Dante is presented as a precursor of the dems, someone who goes into exile because he is on the side of the proletarian struggles and is cited among the greats of all time together with Saviano, without the slightest sense of the ridiculous. It must have been the fascists of his time who condemned him to death and exile, evidently. Those who a poisoned meatball called Michela Murgia he would like to measure with his fascistometer, launched as the latest ideological trend perhaps to be adopted also in classrooms and in the media to profile and discriminate against those who don't think like you. A formidable measurer not of other people's fascism but of his own partisan dementia.
I have always believed that those who were anti-fascists with live and prevailing fascism deserve respect, a proud and self-evident anti-fascism; the posthumous one who rages against the dead does not. But the fake one, surreal and caricatural of our times, It's a triple insult: to fascism, to anti-fascism and the intelligence of Italians. As it is a daily insult to the memory of all the fallen, starting from the Jews themselves, the obsessive ones, petulant, reenactments of racism and extermination camps, read as events in progress. The anti-fascist and anti-racist delirium, it also leads to some once respectable intelligence, a mental clouding with depressing and grotesque results. All this is accompanied by a return of patriotic hatred, of anti-Italianism, which seemed outdated for a few decades, and which instead regurgitates, identifying love of country with the most aggressive nationalism: the best way to really encourage this shift. They want to fight sovereignism but this is the best way to help it spread. After a laborious reconquest of a better relationship with national issues in recent decades, thanks to the effort of Craxi and Spadolini, of Ciampi and also of Napolitano, today's residual left has had a ferocious and senseless regression against Italianness, an anti-patriotic retch to establish that they are on the side of the migrants. Foreigners first. Here's the 4 November celebrated on the side of the Austrians, of defeatists and deserters.
If I thought in political terms, or worse electoral, I should rejoice because you witness the spectacle of a radical suicide, drowned in ridicule in a fight against the Italians. But I'm never happy when an opponent demolishes and ridicules himself like that; I don't like, for democracy, for the circulation of ideas, out of charity for their country to see them foaming with hatred and anger, worse than the haters who deprecate (“Fucking do-gooders”, the cover of l'Espresso elegantly thundered). And for respect, unpaid, that I continue to have for people despite their prejudices and mental occlusions. Think again, get back, think again. Do not reduce the prefix dem to short for demented. Don't bury yourself in your ridiculous resentment, elevating imbecility to a crime against humanity.
